Hotel Review – New York

My stay at the hotel was a mix of comfort and some unavoidable disruptions.

Pros:
• The room and bed were very comfortable, making for a pleasant stay.
• The shower was amazing, with great water pressure, soft towels, and an overall excellent experience.
• Service was outstanding—the reception staff were incredibly professional and polite, truly making a difference.
• Small but thoughtful touches, like free fruits at reception and high-quality coffee that was regularly topped up, were much appreciated.

Cons:
• The noise levels were quite disruptive due to ongoing construction outside. This included heavy drilling throughout the day on Friday (until around 5–5:30 PM), as well as loud construction and metal loading/unloading at 4 AM on Saturday night. The windows were not soundproof, which made it even more noticeable.
• Lift issues—one of the elevators was out of service, which resulted in long waits. To make it worse, handymen and construction workers were also using the only working lift, making the situation even more frustrating.

Despite the noise and lift inconvenience, I would still stay here again due to the exceptional service, comfort, and thoughtful amenities. However, guests should be aware of potential disruptions if construction is still ongoing.

Deserves all the good reviews. This is a great small boutique hotel that’s especially well placed near Grand Central. It’s typical manhattan so the room is tiny - but well furnished, with the heated bathroom tiles and nespresso being unexpected luxuries. The real surprise was the upgrade to a balcony room - first time in NY where I’ve been able to look out at both the East and Hudson rivers. The staff was first rate, too - friendly and available to answer any question. Brittany this morning deserves a special shout out in this regard. If I had to identify one area for improvement, the furnishings are getting a little shopworn if you look carefully. It’s probably time for a spruce-up, but that doesn’t alter the fact that the fundamentals of this place are solid.

We spent two nights at the Bernic and were very pleased with the clean accommodations and friendly staff. The rooms are small but we were only there to sleep so we managed. The bathroom was great, with a heated floor and rain shower as well as hand-held device. Water pressure was strong. The bed was comfy, the sheets were a heavy weight cotton, which we appreciated. There was a lot of traffic noise and sirens throughout the evening and early morning hours but we picked up earplugs and they helped. The location is good, a short taxi ride to Times Square and Broadway, within walking distance to Rockefeller Plaza. We will definitely stay again.

Terrific team period and far above what you'd expect at a mid priced hotel. Brittany at front desk makes you feel very welcome and is super helpful. Hotel is very clean and in great condition. Guest rooms have all the amenities of a much fancier hotel.

The hotel is in a nice location and a relatively quiet one-way side street. In-house restaurant is nice for breakfast and there are convenience services like CVS right nearby. ||Hotel manager, Andres was extremely helpful to us with requests. Thank you. ||It is New York City after all, so rooms are not huge, but they do have balconies and our spacious enough||Would stay again.

Without question, this is the perfect hotel for any traveler. I especially want to highlight how incredibe the staff is here. Kelsey Shay, in particular. She was at the front desk throughout my stay and went to great lengths to accommodate my me through a stressful time (metaphorically and literally). After having had a terrible experience wiht expedia, she did everything she could to make sure I was taken care of and really compesated for the stress expedia added to my trip. She is truly one of the best, most accomodating and friendly hotel staff members, that I've ever encountered. And I have traveled far and wide.......||Not to mention the rest of the staff who were was absolutely wonderful! From the cleaning crew, who came within minutes to help with broken glass in my room ( which was my fault), to the maintanance team, who I've had the pleasure of sharing an elevator with a few times. Due to the inability to find my key fast enough, the elevator was called to the lower level frequently while I would be looking for it. Each time the staff member would see me sifitng through my large bag with a sense of hurry, desperatly searching for my key, sometimes wearing gloves and layers. They made my life easier by swiping for me, as I went on to find my key while we shared the elevator. Seems minor, but these things are SO important for people who are working against the clock. All of the front desk staff from check in to check out, was nothing but smiles and helpful. kind. This level of kindness is not found just anywhere. Especially not in NYC!||The hotel itself is: Clean, very comfortable, well located, well kept, and most importantly, true to the photos!

Wonderful spot to stay in NYC! Staff is amazing! We had checked out of the place we had initially booked and Kelsey was gracious enuf to offer us an upgrade and showed us our room before we checked in! We had a covered balcony and staff brought us two chairs so we could sit outside. We didn’t mind the nyc noise and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Excellent location, close to public transport and walkable. I don’t want to give too ravishing a review so that there will be room for us next time we visit!

Better than if similar to many of the new limited service hotels in Manhattan. Brittany at the front desk is the best. Makes you very welcome and is super friendly and helpful. Leaves a great lasting impression. Housekeeping guy and gal also say hi and keep the guest room in perfect condition.
