Spice Queen,

I just wanted to say your hands are your gift. God has truly anointed them for cooking such delicious food. Our guests loved everything. They raved over the greens and cornbread. It was amazing to see people go back for seconds and even the captain on the yacht came down for some good ole fried chicken twice! One of our friends wanted to know your location for an event. I wish there was a business card in the bag. Nevertheless, I told her where she could go.

Bottom line… they could not stop talking about how good the food was.

Everything was fresh and seasoned to perfection.

My first time in Chicago and I wanted to give a local business a try. Customer service was top notch and the owner was very gracious. You must give them a try when in town. The portions are larger than most!! It's a must try and they make a vegan and regular greens, both shown in picture.

The footlong catfish sandwich, green beans and coleslaw hit the spot! Very delicious and I can't wait to try other items on the menu of this new establishment. Stop by Spice Queen for great tasty food. Your soul will be satisfied!

I had a terrible experience at Spice Queen in Chicago. I placed an order at 11:10 AM, and it was confirmed by 11:12 AM. I arrived at 11:52 AM—20 minutes after DoorDash said my order would be ready. Keep in mind, this establishment opens at 11 AM.

When I arrived, I was told the owner wasn’t even there yet. She finally arrived around 12 PM but didn’t bother to come to the front or speak with me. Instead, workers from other restaurants were trying to assist me.

Initially, I was told my order would be ready in 5 minutes because “the food was already done.” Later, someone else said the food was still being cooked and it would take another 30 minutes. Despite all this, the owner completely ignored me—even walking past without acknowledging my presence.

While I was on the phone with a DoorDash representative to figure things out, the owner canceled my order because some of the items weren’t available. This entire ordeal was a complete waste of my time and not worth the $40 I spent.

Horrible customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I had the pleasure of visiting Spice Queen and was blown away by the banana pudding—it was absolutely delicious! The texture was perfect, and it had just the right amount of sweetness. To top it off, the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. She even gave me a refreshing fruit lemonade, which was the perfect complement to my dessert. I’ll definitely be back for more and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food!

Aside from the deliciously fresh and hot food, the service was excellent! I was served by Spice Queen herself. What was truly impressive is that she was in the waiting area talking to EVERYONE with a smile and big heart. She was helping customers that wasn’t even there for her restaurant! I wasn’t there for her restaurant, but because of her great spirit and true selflessness and treating ALL customers as priority, I had to order from her restaurant. Her food is just as amazing as she is! This is the type of business that I choose to support! Great food AND great customer service! Thank you, Spice Queen!

The Spice Queen herself graciously fed us last night and everything was delicious! The Henny Honey Hen, fried chicken and the sides (candied yams, Mac and cheese, collard greens) were all amazing. Even the hamburger that my teenager ordered was great. Generous portions and soooo good!

We didn’t realize that the South Loop Kitchen is a takeaway place. We were there on bikes so we ate at the counter designed for people to wait for their pick ups. No one batted an eye but just a heads up in case you miss that detail too.
