Skye Acres has been a blessing! I moved my pony here a little over three years ago, I have never seen him so happy and content. His stall is always cleaned, buckets scrubbed, always has hay and turnout well taken care of. The greatest thing they do is fully blanket throughout he winter, it's hard for me to get there everyday so they watch the weather and put on the necessary blankets for the day. There staff is amazing and super helpful when you need. I have been to many other barns all over long island and have never seen my horse flourish so much.

Pros: allowed to have a camera for 24/7 personal viewing of your horse, beautiful grounds, late hours for boarders that work

Cons: board went up $300 within the first 15 months I boarded there without any further accommodations. Two years went by without a light in our tack room, despite all others having power and electric/light. Majority of boarders are bringing in their own shavings to supplement as horses frequently on mats in stalls (only three bags provided by facility per week for horses that are stalled 16+hrs a day). Ring fees are absurdly priced at $50 per lesson to bring an alternate trainer to the facility. Water is shut off outside from approximately Nov to March, so fresh water is often an issue, especially for horses that live outside (typically only refilled/refreshed once a week). Buckets are never scrubbed, only dumped. Previous assistant manager (who was an equestrian advocate of proper care!) has been replaced within the last year which has resulted in a decrease in care and quality. In emergency situations (I.e. Colic), management will NOT offer their trailer for emergency transport or referrals to emergency transporting and you will be left stuck making your own arrangements to get your sick horse to a hospital late at night. Facility requires a $1300 security deposit plus first months board of $1300 to even walk into the facility with your horse. Management makes you sign a boarding agreement that states your horse will only be fed a total of 5 flakes of hay per day (2 flakes in morning, 1 flake at lunch and 2 at dinner). Horses are often left without hay in front of them from 7pm to 7am unless you pay past the $1300 to supply your own hay or supplement with theirs. Employees are kind, but due to a language barrier, care was often confused / not carried out per requests for specific medical needs.

Very nice place for kids to learn how to ride and bond with horses. I am taking my daughter and son here for riding class. I am very happy with Vinjenna. She is awesome and definitely recommend her.

As a boarder and many others that I know of, we are all so happy with this barn. They go above and beyond for the care of the animals. I happen to have a horse with gut issues and management has been there for my horse and I every time we’ve needed them. They are so attentive to the horses that they know when anything is out of the ordinary, sometimes even before I do. This is my first time at a public barn and it has been a wonderful experience.

I started off riding at skye acres around a year ago and I've never been happier in a barns atmosphere. The people, management, and instructors have been so amazing since I arrived. The facilities are absolutely incredible and are always kept in excellent condition. The horses are all very well kept and very sweet. I've never had a bad experience with the staff and it truly started to feel like a family almost instantly. I love skye acres so much I brought my personal horse here because I couldn't imagine her being anywhere else. The stalls are always impeccably clean and my horse has never been calmer at any other barn I've been to. Her water buckets are always clean, inside and outside, and she's just truly happy. She has hay all day and she loves her turnout time throughout the day. I truly enjoy going to the barn now and I've never felt like I was part of a barn family until skye acres.

I've been a boarder at Skye Acres since April 2021. When looking to move here, the manager took all the time I needed to show me around, answer (and re-answer) every question & concern I had... five separate times!!! The 12+ acre property is absolutely serene! Paddocks are beautifully laid out, cleaned three times a week & well maintained. Water buckets are emptied, cleaned & refilled daily. There is a 1/4-mile track that surrounds the paddocks and outdoor arena that can be strolled on foot or on your horse! The outdoor arena is HUGE & has great lighting for night riding! It is dragged regularly. The footing is a sand/fiber mix that is wonderful to ride on. The main barn is attached to an indoor arena with sand/fiber footing and is also dragged regularly. There are three mirrors in the arena (one of which is being replaced). There is a heated/air-conditioned lounge/viewing room that looks out to the indoor. There are three wash stalls, two outside & one inside. The outdoor wash stalls are fully rubber matted with the hoses managed in an overhead hose holder. As it is only cold water outside, I prefer using the indoor wash stall with hot water! It is wide & deep & has a rubber mat & overhead hose holder. All grain/feed that is in use is kept in metal bins in the main barn and Rubbermaid bins in the second barn (my barn!). Hay, grain and shavings are all stored in tractor trailer containers and, therefore, elevated off the ground so as to prevent any critters from getting to them! Stalls are spacious. They are, obviously, cleaned each morning & on days where horses are in, they are cleaned twice! Water buckets are emptied, cleaned regularly & refilled each day. Hay is always available! In the spring & summer, every stall is sprayed with an organic fly control spray on a regular basis. Barn aisles are swept twice a day. Questions and concerns are always immediately addressed and barn drama is not tolerated. On the two occasions I had an issue with feed concerns, one was definitely my fault in the way I related it & the other was an honest human error, they were immediately rectified and never happened again. I will say this, unless it is your own and you are running it your way, you won't find anyplace that is perfect. What I can say with 100% assurance is, Skye Acres is the closest I have come to finding that perfect place!

I brought my 6 year old granddaughter here for her first lessons and Natalie was an amazing instructor. She also took the horse care instruction and loved that too! The barn is beautiful and clean and appears to be very well run. Uh-oh... Mimi is in trouble now! I highly recommend this barn!
