They opened the door in the back and it was so bad I almost gagged and my eyes were watering as I picked up my meat. Never okay to not be able to clean the kill floor and seal the trash enough. To make it worse this is their “vacuum seal”. It’s not…it’s essentially an extremely oversized zip lock bag I can’t store very easily. Like this is terrible. A good 40% of my half of cow is like this.

Schubert's has a fantastic selection of meats, both fresh and frozen (cheeses, too!) and the prices are more than fair. The staff is also knowledgeable and friendly; I got a wonderful amount of help which I appreciated since it was my first visit. I'm looking forward to trying all the stuff I got and I will absolutely be shopping here again!

It's a great place to have a hog butchered. I drive 2 hours one way one way to pick up my meat. I highly recommend their cured ham.

Friendly staff. Great cuts of meat. They always some of the best cuts in town! Cash has the best price over credit cards. Excellent bacon and links. Grab a number and try it yourself!

I bought a half beef from them. They did a phenomenal job. Alan and Patti took great care to understand how I wanted to customize it, and I had a lot of specifications. They did it exactly the way I wanted. It was packaged perfectly. The marbling is gorgeous. I don't think they have USDA grading, but for me it looks like prime. They aged it for me 3 weeks, so it's going to have great flavor and tenderness. Breaking down whole animals is a skill that's tragically fallen by the wayside, but when you walk into Schubert's it has the feel of a place that's done things the same way forever and has no interest in modernizing. I'm very glad to buy from them.

I got a ham here for Thanksgiving. The ham was delicious but it was pretty pricey. The reason for 4 stars.

That said, they will be my go to for hams for now on.

Great selection of bratwurst and smoked meats. Also a variety of fresh meat with people there to take specific orders. If you're not familiar with a meat shop, this is less user friendly than other places in the local area (eg: wenneman's).

They also had some abomination of bratwurst and candy corn. Crazy.
