Had a great time with troop 452 from Friendswood TX. Beautiful scenery and great weather. We did run into trouble when both aquatics and shooting merit badge classes were cancelled and we had to scramble to choose substitute among the few other merit badge classes. If it wasn't for the scenery, I would've been very disappointed. I'm still disappointed for our scouts who didn't get to earn some of their merit badges because of the cancelled classes.

This camp was quite frankly absolutely horrible. If you are considering taking your scout troop here, please, I beg you to reconsider. The only good part of this camp was the location itself, and the Colorado weather. The facilities were underdeveloped, the staff was severely understaffed and the only staff they actually DID have, was inexperienced and incompetent.

30 minute merit badge classes were blatantly strung out over 3 hours because of their session system, absolutely garbage. The merit badge “counselors” had no clue what they were doing and no experience in their class. Don’t even get me started on the 12 year old staff member….. teaching classes.

The food was awful, half of the breakfast meals couldn’t have been more than 200 calories, portions were pathetically small. The camp served cold, corn tortillas as “chips” with salsa, when asked why they didn’t get fried or even prepared their response was “sometimes things happen”

The only good part of the camp was Chase, he made this camp better than it would’ve been and we love Chase. Chase did an exceptionally good job.

The camp is gorgeous and despite a day or two of rain (we came prepared so no issues here😉) we had a wonderful time.

The food was great. Many of the meals weren't the "traditional" camp food meals and we especially liked the Thai Chicken. They served a full meal service with a salad bar and an alternative soup or main dish depending on the meal which is awesome for picky eaters. We loved the option to sit outside and eat. It gave us the best of both worlds.

Because the camp was understaffed, (i mean it's a nation wide problem currently!), they weren't able to safely run aquatics and shooting which was a bummer BUT they did open up several other merit badges to compensate. It wasn't necessary but it was greatly appreciate regardless.

I can't say enough great things about the staff. They are clearly working hard to be the best that they can be. I even noticed the camp director jumping in and teaching climbing! It's not everyday you see that kind of dedication to a program. Everyone was very friendly and professional regardless of their ages.

All in all we had a wonderful time and I will definitely be coming back again soon!!!

This camp was amazing when I brought my troop to San Isabel under the direction of Robert and Andy. The staff worked hard and the food was ok but Robert was on top of any food issues. Andy worked with program staff to keep them motivated. I was very pleased with this camp in 2018. The commish Gary was a joke but the staff seem to manage in-spite of Gary. If Robert and Andy, kept coming back- the camp would be stellar but the council cant seem to manage a camp!!

Let’s start with the food. Not only did we have to sing in the rain to get it. But the serving line was horribly in efficient. Often times, only one person knew the contents of a meal, leading to a hold up when sorting dietary restrictions. As for the food. The serving sizes were inadequate, not that it mattered cause it was inedible half the time. The highlight of the week was uncooked tortilla chips because “sometimes things happen.” The most edible thing was the the salad bar. Furthermore, the lack of communication between camp and troop leadership often led to issues and misunderstandings. The facilities were also in adequate for the amount of scouts they accommodate, leading to some eating outside despite cold weather. Staff was severely under staffed with no one on standby if need be. This led to aquatics and all shooting activities being canceled, preventing the scouts from getting merit badges they needed.

The only exception to all of this was the splendid work of Chase and Ranger Tim. Both of which went above and beyond to make this Camp bearable.

I switched classes for multiple merit badges, and after having done so, I was told I would receive credit for these badges. Come August, when the merit badges were put in, neither of the counselors who had proof and evidence of my completion put it in, leading to me having spent over $100 to go to a camp that only gave me 1.5 merit badges. I now will have to spend even more time and money at a merit badge college, to retake badges that I have already completed.

Ranger Tim, Chase and the Woman in the outpost were amazing people though.

The kids had a blast and earned several merit badges. Some options were not available this year which was disappointing, hence the 4 stars, but we were able to keep the kids busy the entire stay and earn badges they hadn't gotten yet. The management is very receptive and courteous. The site is beautiful and offers many amenities such as a trading post, showers (separate men and women's), mess hall, medical building, arts and crafts, and many more. The sites have canvas tents, fire rings, fire extinguishers, and trash cans. The tents are elevated off the ground on wood platforms so cots or thick mattresses are recommended. The latrines are located close by to each camp, far enough that we didn't smell it. Overall we had a good summer camp experience.

Having participated in the Spring Camp this past weekend and the week camp last year, I can easily say it was one of the best experiences of my life. It's very beautiful country and the staff is amazing. They're really enthusiastic and truly great people. I have kept in touch with many of the staff members from last year and one is now one of my very best friends. The food is wonderful. Last year my Venture Crew and I did a schedule with Kayaking, Climbing, Mountain Biking, Bishop's Castle, Hiking and more. Never once do I remember being bored or hungry or anything like that. There is always something to do. This place is ideal for any scouts. The difficulty varies and there are plenty of Merit Badge classes to take and great people running it. I can't wait until this year and (hopefully) working there next year.
