We are from out of town and were looking for a bite to eat before heading to our hotel. Wow this was a fantastic find. The chili was amazing and my husband said these were the best ribs he ever had! Didn’t even need to add sauce. But if you are a sauce fan the peach jalapeño and Carolina sauce were great! Service was fast and the staff were super nice. Definitely will be back the next time we are in town.

When i heard they're was a new bbq place opening in the Illinois Valley in not gonna lie i had my doubts. Those doubts were dashed away the minute I stepped foot in the building. Amanda and her crew are on it. She even took a few minutes to chat while I waited on my drink. The atmosphere was great the people at the register were awesome not a long wait time for the food either. The bartender was awesome(you gotta try the smoked old fashioned) price point for the food was spot on for what you get. I ordered the reids ultimate combo(3 meats and sides) the brisket was great had the lightest smoke touch, great flavor and juicy. It stood up to the bend test and stretch. Perfectly tender. Pulled pork was great also juicy and tender the rub added a tiny little hint of sweetness over all. Now the ribs. Those were the centerpiece of the plate. Prefect bark, very light smoke flavor pull off the bone tender yet maintained the bite factor that you expect. DO NOT PASS ON THE CHILI! The chili was an unexpected star of the meal. The sides were a great compliment to the meal itself. If you're a fan of sauces they have plenty, I highly recommend the peach jalepeno sauce, while the Carolina sauce and fire q are also great choices. None are overly spicy but pack some flavor. All in all of you're wondering about reids smokehouse take my advice just go and find out for yourself. I think the Illinois Valley found another place to embrace a one of their own. Oh did I mention this is only their second week in business. They are only gonna get better in time! Keep doing what you do Amanda!

Wow, but I don't think that word is even enough for how good I thought this place was. I love ribs. When I ordered the ribs and brisket I was curious to see how the ribs turned out. They used a rub and it looked like they were going to be dry. I've never been so wrong about how a food looked. Crazy moist and very delicious.
Their choice of sauce is great. From spicy, to sweet, too heat, to a mix of all. The brisket was amazing as well.
Just go.... You'll love it!

The food was amazing. The bartender Mike was more than accommodating and his recommendation for an old fashioned was amazing! Never in a million years would I ever decide to ask for a drink with bacon in it. But I am fan. My wife and I came during Lent so I can’t comment on the atmosphere. But if everyone is as welcoming as Mike was, I’m sure it’s great. I’d happily drive an hour for the food

Tried for the first time, and from the moment we walked in, were impressed. The staff was so friendly and inviting. Food was spot on! Will definitely go back. Highly recommend! We did to go, but will make the next visit to eat in. The mac and cheese was the best I have ever had anywhere. Pulled pork will melt in your mouth. Delicious!

The food is delicious. Even there son Reid was there when we came by to eat. We were in Utica for the Wine Walk. The only thing I wish they could improve on is their French fries. They were wilted and soft. I love me some fries and wish they were crispier. The seasoning on them is delicious. We live in Wisconsin so the next time we are in town we will definitely eat there again.

If you have celiac or a gluten allergy don’t bother. I called to asked if they can accommodate someone with celiac and a dairy allergy. The woman said “that’s gluten right?”. First, how do you work in food service and not know this? When I explained she interrupted me and said “we don’t have anything on our menu that is gluten free”. While I appreciate the honesty, zero stars for customer service and lack of awareness and inclusivity of people with allergies. Can’t recommend.

Update: I don’t expect anyone to be able to serve me. I have had celiac disease for over 20 years. I’m very well aware of all the lines you have to say to protect yourself. And I do not expect you to have a completely gluten free kitchen. I am very aware you serve bread. There’s bread in my own kitchen for my family too. I do however deserve to be treated with respect. Conditions where you have to constantly monitor what you eat are hard enough. I don't enjoy having to ask the questions or have the anxiety about a new place. I was simply trying to support a new local business so I started the conversation. Also I would like to name that the way you spoke to me here on a visible platform was very different that the treatment I received on the phone. I’ll stick with Stone Jug and if you follow my many reviews on eating out with celiac and food allergies I suggest you do too!

Anyone in the Surrounding Areas that does not try this Restaurant is Missing a Wonderful Dining Experience, The food is First Class all the Way. The Nearest BBQ of this quality is in ST Louis. A much longer drive. A Real GEM For the Illinois Valley Area. I Highly Recommend Everyone try this Establishment out.
We ate there Tonight, we should have went there as soon as they opened for sure. Will be a regular Customer. Wait Staff was Wonderful also. Do Yourself and your TASTEBUDS a Big Favor and stop in for Dinner. You will not be Disappointed!
