Mauricio is at REI Paradise Valley. I called the store today to ask if clothing I had ordered online had been delivered to the store as I had been informed it would be when I ordered online. Mauricio did the research and courteously explained that they had not yet been pulled and wouldn’t be ready until after noon or the next day. I hung up disappointed but not upset. 10-15 minutes later Maurice called me back to explain he had been wrong. The order had not yet arrived in the store and that I should wait until I received an email from REI. He called to let me know in order that I not make an unnecessary trip into the store. His professionalism in calling saved me hours and frustration in making an unnecessary trip. Well done and greatly appreciated Mauricio

Lots of cool stuff to buy… with one drawback is the cash register is way understaffed.
When you’re paying these prices shouldn’t you get a speedy checkout as well?

It’s been a while since I’ve been to this store but it’s exactly as I remember it. The selection is extraordinary and the service is equally impressive. I can be in the store for hours but unfortunately I was in a bit of a hurry. I was able to score a great deal on some hiking boots and wool socks. D’Andre in the shoe department went above and beyond to make sure we walked out with a smile, and we did. Thanks for the great service and taking the time to explain in detail all of our options. Even gave us a little lesson on how to tie a runners knot! Will definitely be back again.

I bought a floppy brim hat for a trip to the Galapagos, so likely it would not be used beyond that trip. I found a comparable one on Amazon that was one quarter the cost. When I returned the hat to REI the man who “helped” me wanted to know why I was returning it, and when I explained he became upset telling me it was not the same world etc. etc. It was belittling and he talked nonstop without even letting me respond. Certainly not the experience with the employees there I have experienced before.

I was in there for 15 minutes today to look for hiking shorts and was followed the entire time. The employee never asked if I needed help. He just lurked around and watched me. At first I thought it was coincidence, but I went to several sections of clothing brands and bam he was right there near me again. It was a clear display of discrimination. I will not be returning to this location.

Great for mens clothing if you are a 40 waist with a 30 inseam and only wear size S shirts... otherwise they can order it online for you in 2 weeks. This place never has anything in stock in any normal size. Don't even bother.

Tons of excellent gear and high quality brands. Prices are high but that’s not just REI, the quality of gear they carry commands high prices. Their used section was pretty bare.

We really enjoyed our time in this store. We're not from in town but we decided to swing in and see what kind of products that they have here. We love the selection of gear and the helpfulness of the staff. I talked to one staff worker for quite a while and he was really knowledgeable with the different activities and the area.
