They sold me milkweed but I never got to see it bloom because of these insects. They don't use pesticides on their milkweed so you can feed it immediately to your hungry bugs.
Sterile environments are for medical labs. Yes, some plants may have aphids wash them off or crush them I promise you will be rewarded with bees, birds, and if you are super lucky these littles. If you wouldn't feed it to your pets or kids, don't put it on your plant.

Bonnie is awesome. She has answered so many of my newbie questions about growing tomatoes and helped me get the right stuff! This place seems like a great nonprofit, and the space is so peaceful.

This place is like a beautiful oasis and not like any other nursery I've seen! The prices are very reasonable and the staff is passionate and well informed. A lot of the various plants have handwritten descriptions of the history, use, and growing habits, which is really helpful when garden planning, and just neat to learn certain things about it. There's a chicken coop and a pigeon rescue aviary that can keep the kids entertained while you shop around, or for your own viewing enjoyment! It's tucked back on the far end of island but well worth the visit!

This place is wonderful and supports a great nonprofit for battered men and women (so said the woman! :))). Plants were great, staff friendly and super helpful and the nursery is also it's own garden, so you can walk around and look at the plants. Lots of options, would definitely recommend!

Very well stocked locally owned and operated nursery in Alameda, CA. Very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly personnel. Offers good selection of native plants, vegetables, fruit trees, herbs, shrubs, ground covers, flowering plants suitable for the Bay Area. Sells soils, compost, mulches, fertilizers, soil amendments, mostly organic, some from local suppliers. Great source of information on gardening/farming.

We've been coming here for at least 8 years and seen this place change and grow and flourish. We always recommend this nursery and are big fans of the work they do. We do hope you keep up the native plant selection, especially those appropriate for Alameda and pollinators. Thank you

Purchased plants here that ended up having aphids on them. When discussing with the manager, he said to bring them in when I had a chance. Upon bringing them in, the staff was rude. She complained in front of other people that she didn’t think I had watered them enough, stating that None of their plants had aphids on them. She made the situation quite embarrassing. I will not be returning to this nursery.
