I recently visited the food pantry. The svc was great. I notice one of the items expiration date was marked out. Didn't think much of it. Within 3 days, I notice molding on top of the cheese cake. Not exceptable. That means bacteria has been building up for sometime. I'm glad my mother pointed it out. Someone probably would've caught food poisoning. Will not be returning. Thst is a health hazard

I went today to the Palatine Township Center to visit the Food Bank and thought I would visit the assessors office to check on the status of some back owed taxes from cook county. As I rang the bell for assistance I was immediately met by a very rude older and unfriendly employee named Irina. She was very dismissive when speaking to me and kept talking over me and not listening. First of all she was not able to find my address and then said that it did not exist though my building was built back in the late 70's... After her speaking to me in such an unkind manner I asked her to let me speak and told her not to be so rude and that I would now speak to her in the tone she was addressing me. After a few moments and words she then found my address and continued with her haughty and dismissive behavior. I then requested to speak with her colleague the one who had helped me back in January and that I would take a seat back in the hallway. I then waited to speak with her colleague and just before I was called back in Irina spoke with that colleague which I had observed from the hallway. Then when I was called back in the "nice" person who I had witnessed just before me treat someone els very kindly was now rude to me and cold. I was just seeking clarity and due to things not being communicated back to me correctly in January I was following up. In the end I was met with rude dismissive and haughty behavior. I was never mean or unkind to both but did not appreciate the way they treated me. I understand they don't care because they are working a government job and have no fear of being fired but it doesn't give them carte blanche in treating residents poorly. We as residents are just seeking assistance and help. Instead we get rudeness and treated poorly. I will never return to this location again due to the impolite and poor behavior I received and would advise other Palatine residents to stay away. It will not matter if you are kind or polite, they will just talk down to you. You are better off going into the city for assistance and they will at least provide you better clarity. If I could I would give this office zero stars.

Last year I apply for the food pantry went like 2 to 3 times. Was Great. Help me and my family in or most need moments. I stop going because we were doing fine. Today 10/02/2023
Re apply cuz I really need it the help again.
So sad that couldn’t help me as last time.
But tank you so much for the lady that help me in the front desk didn’t catch her name but I ask for a emergency bag (food pantry emergency bag) she said she would see what she can do. Lady in the pantry in charge didn’t like that. Lady on front desk help me with some eggs, milk, bread. Tank you so much. As I was walking away the other lady was telling her that wasn’t ok for her to help me with does items . I’m so sorry for getting her on trouble. I want to turn around and return everything but I was to embarrassed. I didn’t want to cause any more trouble. Plus I had my two babies with me.
Tank you so much anyways.

You need a W-2 or a pay stub to use the food Pantry?! No other Pantry ask for this in the entire area!

Was approved for a thanksgiving basket and was given a specific time and day to pick up called and said I had to work during that 2 hour window frame and was told I cant have my basket then! I plan to go to the media with this in hopes that who ever sponsors these programs knows the people running them are just ridiculous!

General assistance is horrible, if you need help with a utility bill or housing good luck your going to need it you will need to provide your first born and over 20 documents and affidavits as if your taking out a mortgage loan. So basically they make it so people are detoured from applying, sad really really sad!

I really hope who ever sponsors the programs for Thanksgiving ,Christmas and LIHEAP see this. I was told to pick up my basket during a 2 hour window in which i work. I emailed and and left several messages pleading for an alternative being a single mom i can not jeopardize my job, i was told that was my only option from a very unsympathetic women in general assistance dept. I email Lori Lindenberg and was given the same answer she will REMOVE my name rather than work with a struggling single mom. Asked for help with my electric bill was denied because i didn't make a payment the month before, who makes these rules?! HEARTLESS group of employees making really good money i am sure, that is okay God will provide for me and my children he always does. I wonder how some people sleep at night.
