While staying in Page, Arizona, we were looking for other things to do besides Lake Powell and kayaking. We met a nice Navajo woman who mentioned the flea market just outside of Page that is held every Saturday. I was looking to find authentic Navajo food and maybe some homemade arts, we weren’t disappointed! Finding the market wasn’t hard, it’s just off the road in a large dirt area with a fabulous view of the mountains! Parking is on a first come basis and it’s not controlled, park wherever it’s possible! We did notice that many patrons drove their trucks to the tent store of their choice, it’s odd but I understand because of the heat they want to stay in the trucks with AC on, but we loved walking around the area to check out all that was offered! The first stand offered a blue corn meal mush, so delicious and healthy for you, a Navajo man made it and it was selling fast! Along the way we met many people, most from the Navajo Nation and selling many wares of jewelry, ceramics, food, drinks, fruit and even livestock, everyone we encountered were warm and welcoming , and we spent a couple of hours talking to everyone! Our most memorable experience was a young 12 year old girl who made jewelry with cedar beads, beautiful and well made and the delicious strawberry cake she made herself, we bought both items! Another great experience was a couple who were selling apricots, mini ones, we’ve never seen apricots this small, but the couple gave us a sample to try, it was amazingly sweet and juicy, we bought a bag for $4! Our next experience was trying Navajo fry bread, never miss the chance to try this tasty bread, eat alone or with grilled meat and grilled chilies, they also grill “mutton “! Expect to wait in line for a while, it’s very popular! It was a beautiful day for us and we will return again!

Need a bigger area for all vendors including everyone that stops by that goes shopping. It needs a better parking area for safety.
