It's a fantastic 17,000 square foot slice of turn of the century and later life. Our guide was informative and engaging. The exhibits were well put together. It was a definite surprise. I would absolutely recommend it. There was no admission price, so you are risking nothing.

This place is awesome! Took my kids for a field trip. A man and his wife run the place and they are the nicest people. I was not expecting the extensive array of knowledge that was gathered here. They taught out kids how to make ropes and answered all their questions. My kids thought this place was so cool and like the couple so much, they didn't want to leave and want to go back!

My 9 year old son and I really enjoyed our visit! The couple who run the museum are friendly and very knowledgeable. There is a huge collection and a lot to see! Very interesting! We even got a homemade jump rope at the end.

Very much enjoyed our visit to the Museum. The collection over all was very interesting, especially the Quilts and the mortuary display. Our grand daughters really enjoyed themselves at the rope making demonstration. The staff were wonderful. Really special place.

Fantastic displays of our past and how we lived, what items we used to ease our labors. Shocking to see what I've read about so much! The kitchen was so much more laborious. Obvious that we've, as a whole have forgotten that our ancestors were tenaciously strong and multitalented.
Very interesting place that I'd enjoy returning to, just to go slower to really take in more details.

My husband and I visited IRHM on Sunday. What a jewel! The founder, Charlie Greer, was a wealth of information and generous hospitality. He gave us a very personal tour full of facts and stories of how he came to start up the museum and acquire all of his artifacts. It is FREE to get in; donations are encouraged. I would highly recommend a visit to Pickneyville and spending some time looking at the beautiful and diverse displays. It is not all about farming or tractors either! Although there is a very impressive collection of tractors. Treat yourself to an enjoyable day at the Illinois Rural Heritage Museum. You won't be sorry!

History preserved in the form of tools of the trade from local, Farmers, Doctors, Dentist, Funeral Directors and Indian Cheif's. They had a wheelchair available for the tour of the museum, I needed it since I left my artificial leg at home to rest. Seen many items on display that I had used on the farm where I grew up. It also has a local Historical Directory of the residents of Perry & nearby counties. This is where I found the history recorded of my family since the day they immigerated to Southern Illinois. Great place to spend some time reminiscing the good old days.
