So. I don’t know HOW people got hot smoked salmon in the reviews on here. We rocked up and were treated like pissed-on garbage. Questions are unwelcome at best. We said we wanted the hot smoked salmon and a side of seaweed salad. Dude opened the fridge and pulled out a piece of salmon in a plastic bag. I said, “wait is it hot? In the reviews it looks like people got to-go containers to eat out of.” He said, “it’s hot. We don’t have containers. Sorry.” We paid and it was a stone cold piece of smoked salmon all wet in a ziplock. No utensils, nada. Dude couldn’t care less if we died right in front of him lol. If you are an out of towner, skip it with a wide birth. Even if the smoker is on, you ain’t getting squat.

I drove past twice, but im glad I found this spot. Yes, its simple food, don't get it twisted. If your looking for fancy, go back to the city. With that said...

Hands down, when its fresh from the smoker; the Salmon I had was the best I have ever tasted smoked.

It was still juicy and not dried out like other smoked salmon i have tried. I mixed it with the Seadweed salad, O.M.G. yum! And the glaze on the outside, you can taste the smoky flavor!

I pick up fresh uncooked salmon here every week and cook it at home. It's the best salmon we've ever had!! 1 pound is perfect for dinner for two, with leftovers for salmon salad the next day. Highly recommend 🙂

When going to Ojai, we stop to get fresh seafood at Ideal Seafood. Friendly staff with great customer service. We went with the plan to pick up some oysters and smoked salmon. The friendly gentleman told us that they have challenges in getting oysters over the past 2-3 months. He showed us some very fresh Ahi, red in color and recommended that. We bought a pound of it and look forward to searing some of it tonight and also making sushi. We also picked up some very delicious smoked salmon which we snacked on before our hike and shared with our pooch.

If you live far from Ojai, bring a cooler and ice packs to take home. You will be very satisfied!

Seems to be a gamble going for lunch here, when it's good, it's great, when it's bad, it's porcelain alter time.
I suggest checking what they hand you before leaving, if they feel they can slip you the bad, they will. So tourist and newcomers, you've been warned.

Fish is the only meat I eat. I get my delicious fresh fish here often. It is so convenient. There are occasions I'm returning to Ojai from Ventura and want a healthy meal fast, voila, the calamari salad....

Drive-thru seafood place makes this an incredibly unique spot. The delicious fish makes it worth the visit. Be sure to also read about the adoravle love story that started this cute mom and pop shop.

Was in town for business. The worker at the window was unfriendly at best. I didn't eat there because it wasn't what I was looking for. Its not a place to get fish or chips or whatever. Even though I didnt eat there, I can't recommend this place becasuse of the service. Maybe they don't like people "out of town" or "not from 'round these parts" if you know what I mean...
