Great stop off point for our cruise. Bear watching awesome if you are luck enough to see on. Guide was excellent and had some much info. Plus he loved bears!
Walk around the small town and museum and stop for a beer by the fire before you depart. Recommended

I was pleasantly surprised at visiting Icy Strait Point. I took the Gondola and Tram Excursion. I watched the fast moving Zipline pass over my head. Once you reach the pier, one takes a Gondola to an area where you pick up another Gondola to reach the tram to tour the rain forest. Before you ride the higher Gondola, you may shop, and sit around a fire and listen to music while drinking or eating food. Then you take a longer Gondola to a higher level where you catch the tram. The tram is a guided ridden tour around the rain forest. Dave, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and knew the history of the Island, spoke and pointed out the edible and herbal plants. Overall everyone was friendly, and I enjoyed learning about the culture of the people and the plants/trees on the island.

Great place to see aquatic life on an excursion. The town is tricky to rate because we were on a small cruise ship and nothing that was not tied to an excursion was open. No restaurants and only the cannery was open. If you come into town on one of the larger boats, maybe the will open. So I cannot really say much about the town outside of the cannery. There you can buy all sorts of souvenirs.

If given the opportunity to do the whale watching, I highly recommend it. We saw everything we were hoping to see.

Great town, lovely atmosphere. Keep looking above or at the water as whale sightings are almost always guaranteed. Definitely a great place to also eagles, everywhere. Give the zipline a go as well, you won't regret it.

Once you get past that Icy Strait Point is a tourist attraction only accessible from cruise ships, it actually is very well done. You dock at one of two docks, but both provide access to the amenities. The free green gondola connects the two docks. The red gondola costs money and is a great ride to the top of the mountain. From there you can access the zip line. I took the 60-minute open tram tour, which had great narration about the development, but really had very little to see. Near the Ocean Landing dock is a nice welcome center and a restaurant. A short walk leads to the old cannery buildings that contain shops and more restaurants. Those buildings are really beautiful and are also along the water. I walked the 1.5 miles to the town of Hoonah, which was worth visiting. You can also pay a small fee to take a bus to town.

Stopped here while on a Holland America cruise. Easy to get off and on ship. Walked around and took free gondola over to the upper gondola which is pricey. Zipline was sold out for the day but it looks do amazing. All ages were doing it and loved it. I'd book it next time. Crab restaurant on site, bathrooms, fire pit, beach.

Great little town, very cool zip line that reaches speeds of 65 mph. You need to walk over by the cannery. They have an exhibit that shows how it was processed a long time ago. Cool, eclectic shops, but the best thing was the apple cider mini donuts. They have 30+ flavors.
