After ordering from many online nurseries I was not expecting such large caliper, vigorous hazelnut trees with healthy root systems. Great Plains Nursery exceeded all expectations and they have great customer service. I live in a very hot area and delivery time was discussed and close to the right time they contacted me to ask if my weather was right. I love that they care about their customers' success. I will definitely continue ordering from them. Thank you, Great Plains Nursery!
Update: Grand Traverse and The Beast were planted in fall 2022 and they are already producing their first nuts in 2024... in the Chihuahuan desert!

Great Nursery! They have a very well run operation going. I showed up to walk around and check out some trees and Tim was very helpful in showing me everything I was interested in. Great customer service!

I do not recommend Great Plains Nursery for any mail order trees. I ordered four different trees that arrived in the fall, later than anticipated. They were planted upon arrival by the included instructions. One tree (Sugar Maple) did not grow, and I was informed the I was "just out of luck". This nursery doesn't stand behind their products that are sent through the mail, unlike other nurseries.

I ordered the Osage Orange. It arrived quickly and well packaged. It was also MUCH larger than I expected. I will be ordering again soon!

I've ordered hard-to-get native plants from Great Plains on three occasions: persimmons, paw-paws, and (this year) dwarf chinkapin oaks. All awesome food plants that both wildlife and our family can enjoy. Great Plains does a great job at advising about and delivering their products in good shape. In one notable case, they negotiated with me to delay delivery of one order because the plants needed to recover after drought going into the Nebraska winter, followed by a severe winter. I agreed, and the result of waiting was the plants arrived in great condition due to their extra care. Great Plains is bookmarked on my web browser as the first "go to" nursery for my prairie and woodland restoration needs.

I recently ordered three Schuette Oak seedlings from Great Plains Nursery. Schuette Oaks are a natural cross between a Swamp White Oak and a Bur Oak, giving it resilience to handle both wet and dry conditions. It grows rapidly and produces acorns in 3 - 4 years. The company contacted me to ask me when I wanted the seedlings shipped, which was great so that I wasn't left wondering when they would arrive. They were delivered promptly at the beginning of the week I requested in secure packaging, and they arrived in excellent condition. Planting instructions were included. I will definitely order again from them should the need arise.

Very impressed with the knowledge and service of this nursery. They came to my house and were able to recommend native trees based on the location and my preference. Instructions were clear on how much water they needed once they were planted. One of my trees didn't make it through the winters so I contacted them and they quickly responded and will be out to replant this week. Highly recommend!
