Had the vegetarian pasty, HOLY COW. It was like a handheld pot pie. It somehow was not dry, it was crispy and flaky outside and creamy veggies that still had a little bit of a crunch (ie fresh and not from a frozen bag). Well worth the $13, it fed two hungry gals.

This place is great! This was actually my second visit to this place, originally I stopped by about 2-3 years ago, and it was amazing then also. I got the cousin Jack, and it was amazing. My friends the the pork one, and they loved it. This is only place I’ve ever had a pasty at, and it has certainly set the bar high. The bread on the pasty is so flaky and crispy. You can see the bakers making everything right behind the counter. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I am certainly coming back. It’s on the corner of the street, with a mine cart out front. It’s a cool little gem, that is definitely worth visiting.

YUM!!! Pasties are fresh, hot and huge. Got the veggie and a meat one (forgot name). Both were very very flavorful and filling. The dough itself has lots of flavor too.

They have at least five different types of pasties and of the four types I have tried they are wonderful. The pasties are also bigger than typical and my wife and I can share a salad and split a pasty. This can totally fill us up. The guys making the pasties are also quite humorous and entertaining! 😆😂🤣

If you’re ever in Grass Valley, make a beeline for Grass Valley Pasty Co. I had the best pasties I've ever tasted—truly an unforgettable experience. The dough is homemade and perfectly flaky, while the fillings are packed with flavor. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and tastes. Grass Valley Pasty Co has set the bar incredibly high for me. A must-visit if you're a pasty lover.

Wow, Wow, WOW! What an awesome find! I love meat pies and this was throwing to eat! Family run, dad and his youngish sons were behind the counter. I had a delightful conversation with the owner/founder. Got it takeaway and ate it on the nearby pedestrian plaza. I loved the ham-n-cheese (two meals because it's huge) and my grown son had the turkey & pesto special. Omg, it was incredibly good. A place like this is why I avoid national chains. There's nothing like a family run business that takes great pride in what they do. Two thumbs up 👍👍

After seeing pasties featured in the New York Times, I had to check them out. I am so glad I did! Such a cute little shop, such amazing service and fabulously delicious pasty! I tried the chicken, and I will be back to try all the others as soon as I can return. sSo cool to eat something tied to such a rich history in the area. Definitely come check them out!

To be fair, if you've never had pasties from other places, these would be enjoyable.
Ordered a Cousin Jack.
Taste of filling was good, but have had better.
Bread is biscuits texture, not flaky as authentic pasties should be.
If paying high prices is your thing, this mostly biscuit bread with a moderate amount of filling, this is the place for you.
