Lovely, quirky motel. I stayed on my way to hike Havasupai and the location was perfect for that. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room had more space than I expected, and was clean and comfortable. We ate veggie burgers at the restaurant, which were excellent and very generously portioned. Well worth venturing off the highway for, for a fun, unique experience.

Staff is friendly & accommodating. Mini golf is not maintained. Pool was clean (I didn't go in, but there were kids swimming & having a good time.) The cavern tours were not open due to construction of elevators to get to them. The whole place was a 50s-60s retro theme. It gave a vibe of the old horror movies. We were envisioning a neon sign to light up & start buzzing. LOL. No real modern amenities. There was a keurig clone coffee maker in the room, however. The A/C was a single non-thermostat unit in the wall. Turning a dial turns it on. You can set it to high or low, and adjust how cold. But it blows the same until you turn it off. The bed by the cooler got cold at night, while the farther one stayed very warm.

My map research was faulty. It was supposed to be near Grand Canyon West Skywalk. Instead, it was near the Hualapai Tribe's headquarters. As that tribe runs the Skywalk, the maps pointed me there. There aren't really any hotels near the skywalk. But Kingman would be an hour closer. This hotel is 2 hours (via Kingman), or 1.5 hrs via a 22 mile (well maintained) dirt road.

The motel was full of guests when we arrived, many hanging around visiting with each other on the grounds. The other guests were headed to Havasu and were gone before 8am. We did not get a lot of noise from them, other than the kid who was slamming a wet shirt against his families van right outside our window in the evening. (Not sure why he thought that would remove the water. He was acting like it was a rug that needed the dust banged out of it.)

Overall, we had fun staying there. It was comfortable enough.

We stopped for the caverns but unfortunately the elevator was broken so we couldn’t go on a tour, but we used the restrooms, grabbed some water, took some cool pictures and talked with the staff which was very friendly. The tour is about a mile long and the pictures were cool!

This review is for the Havasu permit check-in office, not the caverns (the cavern tours aren't taking place right now, due to renovations, anyway).

You can only check in from 8am to 5pm. You must have your reservation proof with you. You must have the vehicle information for all vehicles from all people in your reservation. The person behind the counter is pretty indifferent to your existence. I wouldn't expect any special favors. We didn't have any issues with our check in because we made sure to read up on tips before we got to the check in, but that wasn't the case for everyone in line. Definitely come prepared before arriving and keep in mind that if you're planning on checking in the day of your hike start, it's over an hour away to drive from this check in location to the trailhead. You'll be walking into the canyon in high heat conditions and that's not what you want.

Hotel is affordable and surprisingly comfortable. Staff is friendly. The restaurant a mile down the road toward the RV park has good good and prompt service. Bison burger was generous and juicy, fries were great.

Stayed at the campground. Disappointed we weren't told at booking that all amenities weren't available at the campground. No showers or toilets working and only had port o John's. So we had to pay full rate and didn't have all amenities.

Good home base for Havasupai Hike.

Restaurant was pretty good post hike.

Good for buying snacks, and the staff were very friendly. They have a little museum there of old devices, It’s particularly a pleasant surprise after being on the road for a while.

Stayed here the night before the Havasupai hike. The check-in for the hike is also located in the same building which is real convenient. Check-in process was smooth and fast, and it’s cheaper to buy your postcards here than down at the village. The dinner restaurant is a short drive away with many options, though the breakfast offered on site was basic.
