Definitely an old tyme feel with sporting goods, musical items, and more from 50+ years ago all over the walls and ceiling. One can immediately tell this place is where the locals come. My husband and I stopped recently after going to Behrmanns processing for an early chicken meal. The cafe was full except for one table next to the front door. The cafe has a main floor then another floor 4 or 5 steps up. We put in our order and watched the server work her buns off. I wish I remembered her name. She is a jackrabbit. The food was great with huge portions. We both ordered chicken 4 pieces so we had plenty to take home. We both had salads. I had the slaw (very tasty) and my husband had the fries (large amount). We will definitely go again when in the area. The prices were fair ($10). There was a small parking lot next door and street parking.

In town doing a job and we always look for local diners because they have the best food. The service was excellent. I had the turkey and dressing, and hubby had chicken fries steak and eggs. Had that hometown feel.

Best family style restaurant and food that I have had in a long time. Loved everything, the chicken was fried just enough to be crispy outside while nice and juicy on the inside. All the sides that came with were really good too.

Great place; been going there on and off for years. Very typical small town menu, but Fried Chicken is their specialty. All you can eat on Sunday is huge, and take an appetite! They cook orders as they come in, so it is a bit of a wait but worth it. Looking for good basic no frills food, then this is the place! And great homemade pies!

How do you say beyond fantastic? This place makes me want to move to the area just so I can eat here all the time! Mainly on-road parking, but we found a few nearby parking lot areas to put our truck and pontoon. Fun menu with so many options it took the 6 of us quite a while to pick! We got the pulled pork pile, a pulled pork sandwich, the ribs, a double cheeseburger and a Cobb salad. Only disappointment out of all of that was the Cobb salad, it said it was a mixture of greens but was sadly just iceberg lettuce. We all left stuffed to the gills! Rolls were delicious. Sides were amazing. Portions were huge, and prices were very reasonable. Decor throughout the restaurant created a fun, nostalgic atmosphere, and our service was top notch! The pie and dessert list was endless, but none of us had room for it. We are definitely keeping this one on the radar for any future trips to southern IL. Thanks for making the last meal on our 8 day vacation by far the best!!
