Lots of cool local flair at the gift shop, fine dining at the restaurant, or a historical cruise along the Erie Canal, complete with a demonstration of the canal lock system. Really fun tourist destination right off of I-90.

Such an amazing experience! Went up to lock 18 and back, up and down once through the lock. Great land tour to the lock, we were lucky to see the lock operate twice on land as well. Very informative tour with great guys and staff. Got to see the second oldest (though contested) church in NYS. Would highly recommend!

This little gift shop features products from around the Mohawk Valley, Utica, and beyond. You can find everything from Herkimer diamonds to local honey here. It's location directly across from NYS Thruway exit 30 makes it a very convenient stop.

While here, stop at the Waterfront Grill for a bite to eat or book an Erie Canal cruise from Herkimer to Little Falls and back again.

I always love stopping into Gems to see what wonderful New York State merchandise they are selling! Beautiful jewelry, hand-crafted stain glass; Wizard of Oz memorabilia and souvenirs; local authors and their interest-grabbing tales of the Erie Canal, Adirondack Mts, and Central NY lore; and area businesses' paraphernalia, such as Utica Club, Remington Arms, and Herkimer Diamond Mine! Also hand-made art and crafts by the local residents with disabilities. Amazing! Just off Exit 30 of the NYS Thruway. Stop in! You'll be amazed at all Upstate NY has to offer!!

Awesome boat trip, reasonable price for a unique experience , going through the lock.The guide s information of our area, it's history, and the amazing people that built the greatest canal system in our country...very impressive....I highly recommend this excursion to all...young and old...our beautiful new york state

I've been coming here ever since I was small, the gift shop is always amazing! There's so much selection. Whether you're going in for fine jewelry, or just a snack, this place has it all. I definitely loved the crystals/rocks/minerals/fossils they had for sale! The cashier was very friendly, and accommodated me and my family with our numerous purchases! Definitely a must stop if you're on the highway traveling. I will always stop here!
