We rented ducklings. We loved the experience, we loved our ducklings. At pick up, everything was fine, the owners/workers are friendly there. It was a quiet day there for pick up.

We dropped our ducklings off today. It was very busy, a lot of kids running around mistreating the animals without supervision from any staff or parents. We had to watch our sweet little duckling babies get dropped, squeezed, and man-handled without any regard for the animals’ safety.

We saw several goats coughing, many sheep and lamb noticeably uncomfortable with people around, and another duckling missing its eye. Several others looking unwell.

I feel sickened that I have supported this place. My daughter and I left there crying because we felt like we just raised these babies to go back and get tortured there.

I am not someone who likes to bad mouth any business, especially a small business like this. But as an avid animal lover, I cannot sit by and not say something.

I think petting zoos are amazing when ran correctly, when children are supervised and the properly staff is available to assist and watch when children and people are handling them. This place needs more people to assist with animal handling and care or they should not be open to the public like this.

So if you love animals, this place is not for you. As much as we enjoyed having our ducklings, I wish we would have never sent them back to this place. I have to live with the guilt, do not make the same mistake.

Sending prayers to our sweet Donald and Daisy. We hope you stay safe. 💔

Amazing spot. Skip the crowds and go authentic. Dig up potatoes, cut your own pumpkin, watch chickens, and pet a goat.

Wonderful experience in the spring holding and playing with baby animals, the folks that work here are kind and welcoming. A lovely way to spend the first days of spring amongst bunnies, chicks, goats, lambs, and piglets!

$10 per person. Animals cramped into one small barn. Clearly stressed. Mother sheep very stressed trying to protect their lambs. Lots of annoying kids being too loud and grabbing animals not being taught how to respect them and parents just encouraging them to scream in the animals faces. Didn’t see fresh water in some of the pens.

Enjoy Pioneer Farm is a must-visit commodity if you are in the Chicago area!! It is about an hour outside of Chicago and definitely worth the drive! My family of 5 visited this place and did not know what to expect. We showed up and the place looked a little cluttered and unorganized but they were far from it. The owner and staff were excellent at providing customer service. The price to pet and hold the ducks, chicks, goats, etc. was $6 per person for the entire visit. The bathroom was an outhouse with a working toilet! The sink was outside with soap on a rope which was a site to see! There was hand sanitizer in multiple locations for customer use. The animals were in the red barn and included a pig, cow, rooster, sheep, lamb, baby ducks, baby chicks, baby goats, and bunnies. The $6 was an excellent price for the service we paid for. I was even able to walk one of their cows around the property for a bit!! The farm also offered “rent a baby chick or duck” option where families can borrow supplies and purchase food to care for the animal for a selected time period. This animal petting farm is only offered in the summer. In the fall I will be sure to come back for their produce and pumpkin picking season which begins in October!

I had a stroke of good luck and met the owner at Aldi, he invited my family to check the place out and we did.

I was a bit surprised by the location, however knowing that the property has been in the family for generations definitely changed my perspective.

The owners are incredibly kind and friendly.

They have chicken and duck rentals (we are seriously considering doing this next year) and it's only $8/person (a little less) to spend time petting the animals. They had pigs, rabbits, cows, goats, and sheep.

Eggs and other farmish things are available for sale and it's definitely worth an hour to an hour and half of your time to go and love on the animals.
