I really enjoyed learning about Earth Matter's work, and how they compost food scraps. Especially fun to see how chickens and other animals are a part of their composting process!

Also learned about other initiatives on Governor's Island, like the Billion Oyster Project and the lavender field. It makes a great day trip out to the island to check it all out.

An urban farm on an island (Governor's Island) that has everything you can imagine growing there and a fascinating view of Manhattan's skyline. Seems surreal yet it is definitely real and beautiful.
