Great place to hike.I recommend that you do not hike alone or if you do bear spray or dog many brown bears in the area. During the Salmon run they close the park to many bears. If it's your first time in the park and you have a little extra cash hire a guide for a couple of hours there very knowledgeable and give you great tips on how to stay safe. You will see most people go in groups. The parking lot is pretty safe if you leave valuables behind but always keep them hidden.

Eagle River Nature Center is a good spot to visit for nature lovers of all levels. Visiting in mid-May was nice, as the trails were just starting that new green spring growth. The highlight of our visit was spotting a black bear just off the trail, which made for a good memory. The well-maintained paths offer a variety of scenic views, from forests to river overlooks. Highly recommended for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Alaskan wilderness!
