The Desert Hills Lutheran congregation is a loving, accepting community. It is an active congregation, with social and spiritual activities and community outreach. Although it is a large church with 5 services each weekend, it is very friendly. Great music.
I'm involved in the Sewing Bee which does amazing charity work, providing quilts to veterans, children, and other people in need as well as raising money through the sale of quilts and other items at its annual boutique that is then donated here in southern Arizona and Northern Mexico. You do not need to be a member of the church or own a sewing machine to work with the Sewing Bee. You don't even have to know how to sew, there's plenty of related tasks or you can learn.
There's so much more going on. I invite you to come check it out.

This faith community is alive and breathing. People care there! Singing in the Celebration choir and the Voices of Miriam choir is tons of fun. Though there are a good number of singers, there's room for more--especially ladies in the Miriam choir!

We spend 6 months (winter months) in Tucson. Over 2 yrs ago friends invited us to Desert Hills Luth. Church. This church has been our choice ever since. We attend the Country Gospel service. The service overall is good, sermon’s are great & the music is amazing! I feel I’m among very caring Christian people. It’s all about making a difference in the community & the world.

We spent a couple weeks in Green Valley and attended a Sunday service and the noon Ash Wednesday service. We enjoyed worshiping at both services and the music and messages were Spirit filled. We were disappointed that the only people who spoke to us at both services were the door greeters. This will remind us to be friendly to everyone at our home church. God Bless You.

The Country Gospel service provides a service whose music lifts one spirits and prepares one to enthusiastically embrace the Message from the Good Book.

I am a member and am very thankful for this congregation being here. Prevoiusly I was an active member of several small Lutheran churches and was apprehensive of joining a large congregation. Those who worship here are very friendly and make a visitor feel welcome. There are five services that vary from very traditional to very informal. A great country western band plays for the two Saturday Country Western Gospel services.

Even though it is a large congregation it continues to grow as both permanent residents and "snowbirds" find out about our congregation.

The members are very active in our community. Many volunteer with some volunteering at more than one of the many local charities and nonprofits.

If you visit our congregation you may after a short time want to be a part of this committed Christian felliwship.

No one is going to say anything negative about a church will they? Martin Luther did. We had very bad experiences at this church. The pastor was not friendly at all. He never went out of his way to talk to us. We were at another church in Green Valley n wanted to try all of them. We had heard this church was very unfriendly but we like to make up our own minds. We always sat in the same pew. I have trouble w my eyes n my neck, so i have to be careful w where we sit. The congregation fluctuates when the snowbirds leave so we ended up sitting in our regular pew many times by ourselves. Once the pastor got up on the wrong side of the pew I guess. He publicly ridiculed us for where we were sitting. He said " I see u r sitting with your friends by yourselves again. It must be nice to have your own pew." He went on for several more sentences to ridicule us. People were turning around n looking at us. How could a minister act like this I certainly hope Pastor u read this. SHAME ON YOU PASTOR FOR YOUR BEHAVIOR!!!!!

I went to the restroom one time n upon coming in n out i said hello to 2 different people, they just looked at me n would not respond.

Soon after this we quit going n they stopped getting their $20 contribution.

I am so surprised any pastor would conduct himself like this. But we also know from other churches we should not expect perfection. Very, very sad about this experience w this minister. Sure hope he reads this. I am looking forward to meeting u again. U will be one of the top 10 I will be looking out for. You better pray Pastor because I am sure the big guy upstairs was not proud of u that day.
