City Market - Pagosa Springs, Colorado

The last time I was in our local Pagosa Springs City Market (Kroger) we had a hard time loading one of their stupid digital coupons. Yes at Kroger you literally have to work for your discounts. My 71 year old husband was down on his knees trying to load the stupid digital coupon for like 10 minutes! We finally took a picture of the tag (there were two) so we could show the cashier we had tried. Upon checking out as loyal customers who only shop at this City Market spending now $500 a visit instead of the pre-COVID $300-400, the cashier got a supposed manager involved, Cleo. I had always liked Cleo. Well this certainly changed that. She refused to actually LOOK at the pic we had taken to save her time. She denied the coupon acting as if we were lying! Where did we get the pic if we were lying? She obviously didn’t know there was more than one place where this product was located and was only looking at the “sale” display. I had to walk completely across the store with my bad knee to show her the two tags where we took the picture. Finally the produce guy who never offered to help my husband in the first place got involved. Cleo asked him “is it expired?” It was but there was no way a customer would know that… I still have the picture to prove it. Instead of an apology I was told I would only receive the discount on one bag of pecans since it was expired. The only reason I grabbed two was because of the great sale price. After ALL she had put loyalty customers through she still denied us the discount just to be petty? We didn’t do anything shady and we were treated as if we had! She also tried to convince me that we had already gotten the discount, which we hadn’t as I showed her our receipt. I have NEVER been treated so discourteously, and we shop there all the time. I was so angry upon leaving I don’t even want to ever go back.

I don't ever post reviews and in fact, I believe this is my first. I love City Market in Pagosa Springs as it is a much nicer establishment for fresh produce than our local Walmart. However, I have recently had the displeasure of seeing two older women who I only assume to be "managers" at this location harassing and treating their staff worse than dog crap on the bottom of their shoe. I have witnessed this mistreatment numerous times and have even seen employees crying outside of the store on their breaks. The old women in question are called "Liza" and "Cleo". On numerous occasions, I have seen them snap and verbally yell at other employees when they are in the middle of a task, such as helping myself find an item. Upon the poor employee being yelled at, she was forced to walk away from me and I was never able to find my item. This type of treatment is repulsive and an utter embarrassment on the franchise and location as a whole. I simply do not care how long they have worked here, verbally screaming at your coworkers is an abomination. These two women are extremely rude and disrespectful and if you need help, I suggest going to find someone more competent in their jobs. I would advise you to steer clear of Liza and Cleo, but sadly they are typically watching over the self check out lanes and have made their ungodly, awful presence known. It appears they have created such a hostile work environment that the entire store is short staffed. I hope to shop in peace but it is impossible when you could cut the tension caused by them with a butter knife upon entering the store.

Staying at Wyndham Pagosa Springs after flying into Durango. Got groceries at Albertson's before heading out because figured Pagosa Springs was too small for good groceries. Of course, always forget something and was pleasantly surprised to find City Market so close. Grocery was fantastic - tremendous choices. Not only that but Mountain Spirits liquor/wine store next door had a fantastic selection.

Great litte store. Every time we visit Pagosa, I try to find a place to stay close to this City Market. They have everything you need, it's clean and the employees are friendly. I'd come here any day over the Walmart down the road.

It's a grocery store that is more expensive than necessary! Walmart isn't far from here, and you can save a lot more money. Most of the employees are rude, don't smile, and seem to "just deal." It has a Starbucks inside that's just as expensive.

Our CM is often out of things we tend to enjoy often. Would be nice if we had a larger natural foods section. That said, if you're gonna live and/or shop in a small town like Pagosa that tends to be a common sacrifice.

I have experienced 2 hit & runs in this parking lot. Watch out. I was parked and received no help from any store associate with cameras.
