Im addicted to the lucumaca cacao drink. So so good I buy the big size and then keep in fridge and slowly sip it for days. The owner is just this guy with a second shop in Sacramento, small adorable business with great cacao selection and not so overpriced like these kinds of places can get. I stop by every time I am in town.

This is one of my favorite shops in downtown Nevada City. They have a ton of chocolate and cacao items sold here. Lots of chocolate that is vegan or nondairy. They have chocolate and cacao bars from a lot of local makers as well as ones from all over the country. They also have 4 different flavors of cacao bars that they make themselves. Some of my favorite brands sold here are Fine and Raw, CRU, Ora Cacao and of course the Choquiero chocolate. Lots of the chocolate is organic too. They also have some tea for sale such as Classy Hippie Tea from Sacramento which is amazing tea. They also have some delicious vegan desserts in the case. They also have a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. I like the hot cacao drinks the best. They also hold cacao ceremonies here too and they are really special! Not sure if they are currently happening due to Covid. They have a couple tables on the front porch and more behind the business in a garden area.

We had an odd experience. We ordered our drinks, and the barista said they’d bring it out to us so we sat right on the porch in front of the door. The barista came to the porch and looked right past us! I waved and said we are here but he walked away. So we thought maybe it was the customer before us he’s looking for. A lady even pointed us out to him but he still walked away saying he didn’t see us. So we waited for a long while. At least 20-25 minutes, probably more. Then, I finally went to the counter and asked for our drinks and he said he couldn’t find us!! When I walked in to ask him, he had no idea why I was approaching him until I asked about our drinks. He’s been looking straight at me through the door window for the last 20 minutes, and he couldn’t find us A lady even pointed at us and he couldn’t see us He was literally standing arms length from us and he couldn’t see us? They didn’t apologize. Our drinks were so cold by then. We didn’t even finish our drinks. Mind you, we sat at a table that was not cleaned. Used cups and plates from previous customers were still on the table. Mind you, we were the only customer for the first ten minutes. It wasn’t busy it was an hour before closing. We were the only sit-in customers. I was so disappointed, I just left. We paid $18 for two drinks including tip. It was disappointing, disheartening, and a horrible experience.

Such a wondrous dreamland of joy in the pursuit of the divine pleasures of cacao — 1,000 choices of excellence; and hosted by a crew of high-vibe good people. Worth many returns and many hours of savoring. Enticing arts and crafts offered too. Respect Choquiero.

Wow! I had no idea how deep the rabbit hole to the chocolate world could go! So many varieties of chocolate from so many different cultures!! Everytime I go I find something knew and exotic to try. I also enjoy escaping to the peaceful bamboo garden in the back full of all sort of characters from around the globe! This truly is a portal to happiness embedded in the heart of the already amazing Nevada city!

This place is fantastic! Really exotic chocolates with unique flavors, origins, and preparations. I got this amazing thing with cacao fruit pulp on top of it. I had certainly never seen anything like it before, and it was some of the best chocolate ever. The cacao pulp tasted kind of like pineapple. Choquiero also has an outdoor event space in the back yard. I had my birthday party there recently, and it was the perfect spot for a gathering. They are also planning on serving drinks soon, so it will be a great place to lounge around, eat some treats, and maybe even get some work done.

Best store! An enormous variety of GOOD quality craft chocolate bars. Highly recommend, if you love chocolate then it's a paradise but if you're still eating popular chocolate brands, then your mind will be 🤯 about how much you have to learn about it 😉

NOT the place for coffee. The worst oat milk latte I’ve ever had. $7+ dollars thrown down the drain- literally. I threw it out when I got home. YUCK.
Asked for it iced and got hot too. They were too busy for me to ask them to remake it so I just left.
