This review is specifically for anyone considering booking a riding lesson with Merrill…DO IT! Merrill made dreams come true for my horse loving daughter and her best friend. They had the best time and I could really see that Merrill knows exactly what she is doing in her work with such large beautiful animals, and with small beginner children. I’m so glad we were able to gift my daughter this experience and I would totally recommend it to any parent or grandparent of a horse loving kid.

My horseback riding lesson with Merrill was more than a reintroduction to the basics of riding after a long hiatus from the saddle. Merrill was a very attentive instructor who helped me connect with the horse and remember what it means to communicate energetically.

The whole experience was very empowering and almost magical as I truly remembered why I loved being around horses so much in my youth. I highly recommend Merrill as a riding instructor and Cedar Ridge's incredibly well trained, patient and healthy horses!

Just a wonderful place! I came with a friend and our 3 young daughters for a weekend. Pam made us feel so comfortable and well taken care of. The glamping tent we stayed in was so lovely and cozy. There were plenty of fun activities for the children. Highly recommend and we will be returning in the future. Thanks again!

The most special place... We have been riding up and down the valley over the years and finally found Cedar Ridge Ranch. The horses are so very loved, respected and cared for in this peaceful setting. Merrill has a true gift for facilitating connection to self and the world through her beautiful horses, many of whom have been rescued. We learned so much from Merrill and Honey and cannot wait to come back next year. Thank you!

Such a beautiful & fun glamping experience. Great accommodations & well thought through. The only suggestion is it would have been nice to know that the owner’s dogs have free rein to run about which was stressful at times with our dog. While our dog was leashed the majority of our stay, she doesn’t well with dogs unfamiliar to her, approaching her which resulted in a scuffle & having to chase the dogs away several times.

YIKES! Had the Star Gazer “glamping” tent for three nights in July 2024 with my wife and two daughters (elementary/middle school age). It was three nights too many. After a difficult check-in (there was nobody at the barn, so we drove to the random houses on property looking for somebody, and one of the houses pointed us to the owner’s house…apparently parts of the ranch we sold off in the past, so there are houses unaffiliated with the ranch on the property), we were taken to the Star Gazer tent and shown the tent and what is the next-door shower/toilet facilities. The tent was rustic at best, most everything is pretty well worn, but it was cute and the bed was comfy. Be warned though, the tent does not zipper close in the front, nor is the tent fully sealed at the bottom around the base the tent sits on. We had everything from numerous spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, moths, flies, and the occasional wasp, in the tent during this stay, every day. That experience we managed through though.||||The worst part was that the bathroom/shower tent next door was completely unusable. We were told that toilet paper could not be flushed and that ALL toilet paper needed to go into the garbage can (yes, used #2 toilet paper into a garbage can that then sits there in the heat). We tried to shower, but the shower alternated between icy mountain run-off water to scalding hot water when the boiler kicks on (there is no way this is up to any type of code). The shower is a pull-chain shower and there was maybe 15 seconds total of useable temperature water to shower with. I have been to numerous camping sites with better facilities than these. We just ended up using the bathroom in the barn every time and didn’t shower at all (thank God we went to Iron Mountain Hot Springs one day and were able to shower there!).||||Overall, this place is NOT glamping, if that is the experience you are going for, and is in need of some major TLC. Pam and Randy were very sweet, but there is no way I would spend the $300+ per night to stay here ever again, and I can't say the other lodging facilities there looked much better. Our goal for those three nights was to spend as little time at the tent and property as possible. This was easily the low-light of our entire trip across CO and was a huge disappointment for everybody in our family. You can view the stars anywhere out here…just don’t do it here.

My fiance and I visited the ranch for a weekend getaway to run away from the stresses of our never ending house maintenance issues. The property is an absolute gem. Pam and her family have a piece of paradise out there, and we were so stoked that they shared a little bit of it with us.

They're absolutely lovely folks, and their animals are beautiful, friendly, and so entertaining. All of our worries washed away while we were there. Hope we find the time to make it back one day!

We were looking for a different experience, off the beaten track - and this was perfect. We stayed in the Cowgirl Cabin, which was just lovely, and had everything we needed. It felt like home, and it was so QUIET - we hated to leave our little peaceful oasis! The owners were quite nice and welcoming, but also gave us plenty of space. We enjoyed strolling around the property and seeing the animals too. We'll definitely be back if we are in the area again!
