Update: 2/17/25

Brooklyn Fare is a very good upscale gourmet grocery store in the neighborhood that has everything your home could possibly need.

Mohammad & Ivy are the best, and make the shopping experience beyond super amazing.

The deli, prepared food section is very nice. Love the fresh produce section. Seafood section is small but they carry top quality seafood, better than any gourmet market in Manhattan.

When in need of fresh weekly bouquet of flowers for the house. I always choose Brooklyn Fare for my floral needs. They have a really nice selection of fresh flowers.

Could not ask for a better shopping experience.

Brooklyn Fare is a neighborhood grocery store that has really great high end, organic, and non organic food. The prices are very expensive and are typical due to the area. However the service is amazing minus the rude old lady cashier at the 1st register.
The deli has really great prepared food, love the hot food, soups, bakery, fresh vegetables. The seafood department is small but very good. Many thanks to Mohammad, Ivy, Sal, and Sam. Definitely miss Julio they all are truly the best, and make Brooklyn Fare an excellent place to shop. Thank you for keeping the ninó bananas in stock!

I know it’s Manhattan and rents cause prices on food to elevate to absurd levels BUT really! As an example, Tonnino Jar of Yellow fin tuna is 7.99 at Shoprite in Long Island and 13.99 at "Brooklyn Unfare". There are many other examples of items being 40-50% higher. Another HUGE HEALTH SAFETY ISSUE is the shelf life “Brooklyn Unfare” stamps on their prepared foods. I worked managing a very large successful gourmet deli/ bakery years ago. Most prepared foods( chicken wings, tuna salad, chicken salad) put in a plastic container last about 3-5 days. Brooklyn Unfare adds excessive additional length to what they consider is an appropriate shelf life. I went to a Two day NYC Department of Health class to get my information on food preparation, storage and shelf life, not sure where they went? UPDATED ON 7/8/24- I just uploaded photos taken from a visit on MAY 24th,2024 at their Hudson St. West Village location. They are giving 7-11 days of shelf life on salads with Eggs, Mayonnaise, Tuna & Chicken. The industry accepted standard is 3-5 days maximum. I have attached an industry chart that lists proper shelf life in a refrigerator. ONCE AGAIN- When they replied to my original post their point was that no one ever advised them of getting food poisoning after eating the items? BAD ANSWER!

Their prices are so outrageous that they have stopped putting price tags on 99% of the items especially the expensive stuff like smoked salmon, cheeses etc. Look at the attached proof: these tiny goat's cheeses cost $15.99. Good luck finding a single price tag. You only find out when it's too late and the cash register is bagging it. Horrible trick

Stopped by location as I received a flyer advert. None of the items in the advert were in stock. None of the prices matched the flyer for deals.

Decided to keep browsing for quality meat cuts and found half the meet was oxidized (brown) and other premium cuts were above normal price and the items looked partially frozen or not fresh. I literally left my shopping cart and left without making a purchase.

I had high exp for the store as it seems like a premium offering only to find premium price with out of date items. Would not recommend

I like this place because it’s a grocery store you wouldn’t expect in the neighborhood. It seems they’re only found on the west side of manhattan.

Atmosphere: it’s casual, a lot of space, fast pace. You’ll have room to push a cart and walk slowly to browse the goods. Feels clean. Smells clean.

Service: the staff is mostly found by the registers. They’re young, friendly, vibrant. They remember your names and faces.

Food: they won me over with their chocolate chip cookie. I also question them for selling Entenmann’s baked good but I get it, sometimes you want that commercial good. Their brownie isn’t worth it. Get the chocolate chip. The ice cream selection is great. Their cheese selection is a big. Their produce is always fresh.

I love this place! It is a little expensive for some items but nowhere near as bad as other offerings in the area and there’s a lot that’s very well priced (for Manhattan).
