They were busy and usually do a great job. There was only 2 people working and with little league games and a beautiful day they were super busy. The unexpected orange sherbert hidden in my icecream was not a nice suprise, we had left and an even bigger line had formed.

I am so glad that I took the advice of another reviewer and got the ice cream flight! At $6 for 4 flavors, you truly get your money's worth (and then some). I couldn't have even chosen a favorite flavor because all 4 were both interesting and delicious. Skip dinner and just indulge here!

The line here is often long and for good reason: they serve delicious ice cream in HUGE portions. (Fortunately, the staff is great and the line moves quickly.)

Fantastic, creamy ice cream in lots of classic flavors - plus a few unusual ones. And two vegan options for those who want or need that. They also do soft serve, sundaes, milkshakes, and the like, but their giant cones and cups of old fashioned ice cream are the go-to here.

Be prepared to order a bowl to go with your cone (an extra $0.25) in order to save your massive mountain of ice cream from falling on the ground. Or just to save some for later.

Went here while on vacation in the area and I was not disappointed. Friendly staff and quick service. Lots of delicious flavors to choose and including some fun ones.

I had the 'baby' cone ($3.78) and that thing was massive so I can only imagine what larger sizes looked like, but this was perfect for me. I had the Moose Tracks and Brownie Batter and they were both amazing!

If you're near chautauqua lake, I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Delicious ice cream and great service! We pulled up and the line was REALLY long — but it moved extremely fast. Staff was friendly and the portions were huge!! Highly recommend!

On our tour of ice cream places in Western PA, Eastern OH and SW NY, we happen to stumble upon Boxcar Barney's.

Really nice location, you can sit in the Adirondack chairs or lounge at the picnic tables to enjoy the view (remotely) of the lake. Very pretty setting and perfect for a sunny summer day and ice cream.

We always comment on how some places have "grainy" soft serve or varying degrees of creamy. Here, we totally enjoyed the creaminess of the soft serve. A bit of a surprise for two small cones coming in at ten bucks but then again, the portions were generous and the location made up for the rest. Cones without a paper sleeve, which was odd, seeing we live in the age of Covid. Regardless, nice place, nice staff and a good old fashioned treat on a day made for it. Oh ... and the only place we have seen so far with PASTEL sprinkles. Not a huge thing but enough to set it apart from all the other standard color sprinkles. FUN!

Portion sizes are crazy so be prepared for your small to be like other place’s large! By far the best bang for your buck when it comes to local ice cream. Homemade ice cream is delicious and I love that they offer dairy free flavors.

The portions are massive for the price. I ordered a baby size ice cream cone and it was gigantic! I think all of there ice cream is homemade as well, which is a nice change from all the chain ice cream places that all carry Perry's. Brownie batter and orange creamsicle were our choices and they were so good. It was a nice treat on a hot summer day.
