It is a perfect place to visit to experience life during the Golden Era. The grounds are magnificent. There are sculptures on the front lawn, making a good photo opportunity. There is an herb garden. Plus, there are many apple trees and pear trees. The home is grand with a view of the Hudson to die for. While I was there, a wedding was taking place. They had a beautiful venue for taking wedding photos with the fall foliage. Unfortunately, the historical home was closed. Finally, there is a wonderful store that even sold apples.

Beautiful grounds, historic home and incredible views. We visited at Christmas for the candlelight evening tour. It was so lovely. There was a live pianist. The staff was helpful and friendly. They also had festive refreshments & Christmas activities in the visitor center & gift shop. There was plenty of parking and spotless restrooms.

Beautiful grounds. The view was definitely worth $14 a person. The trails down to the marsh are perfect for a short hike. Surprisingly wasn't too buggy down there either.

Although the house was closed for renovation when I visited, the trip to Boscobel was worth it. The herb garden is lovely and the view in front of the house is magnificent. It was so nice to sit and admire the marsh and the Hudson River. Every so often you can see the train go by in the distance, which I thought was cool.

Boscobel provided a stunning setting for a professional photo shoot for Ivey Abitz clothing (a designer located in the Hudson Valley). I was the photographer and It was very difficult to not find an incredible composition accompanied by dramatic sunlight.

Over multiple days the staff were professional, helpful, flexible, and accommodating.

As we drove up to historic Boscobel, welcoming signs declared it, “A home for history. A home for design. A home for nature. A home for everyone.” The last sign bears repeating: A home for everyone.

This philosophy is exactly why Ivey Abitz chose Boscobel for this photo shoot. It is one of the most welcoming places. As artists, my wife and I feel very much at home there. It simultaneously celebrates our greatest appreciations: art, architecture, music, gardens, natural settings, and stunning vistas. Boscobel is an idyll and a sanctuary, welcoming to everyone. We feel honored that we could photograph in this special place.

I highly recommend bringing a picnic. One of my favorite memories is relaxing on the lawn for dinner after a long day of photographing. Do it and it’s worth every penny of your contribution!

My wife and I went to the Boscobel House for one of their holiday themed candlelight tours. The grand house was decorated to the theme of a holiday party, with time appropriate holiday decor and food. Additionally, these tours ran later in the evening than when the site was traditionally open, giving people the chance to see the mansion literally in a new light.

Every room of the historic mansion was staffed with knowledgeable guides sharing history related to the holidays. On our walk from the visitor center to the house, we were given a wealth of information on the history of the grounds themselves. The house had been used for cider making, farming, brick making, among others through it's time and links to the past are on display.

We were given ample time to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous sunset view of the Hudson River. It was rich with the colors the Valley is known for.

Inside the house, every room was candlelit and an antique piano was being played to set the festive tone. It felt like a celebration!

The most impressive part of the tour was the gallery in the house basement. It was amazing to see how the house had been transformed from near ruin into the historical center it is totally.

Tickets were a little pricey for the event ($40), but if you enjoy supporting history, rest assured that this museum is putting its funding to good use. This is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages with a caring highly educated staff.

There was even hot cider and other refreshments, as well as period appropriate pomander-making arts and crafts afterwards. Every staff member made us feel welcomed and they truly treated us as their guests. 5 stars.

This place is nice for a get together with friends and family. The property it’s well maintained and clean, the view is stunning. You can use the bathrooms and get some souvenirs at the visitor shop.
