Great small winery. Very local and family owned. Mostly reds made from local grapes. Supprisingly good for small winery! The Teddy Bear Port is very interesting. Also have a very drinkable Syrah.
Suprise!! This is also a craft distiller of fine spirits! Don't miss the Grappa made from local grapes. Smooth and reasonable price! They say more types of spirits will be coming soon.

15 Dec 2018: update! Bear River has opened a new tasting room to Old Town Auburn in the Gold Country mall. Don't miss it. Location now very handy!! Same great wine and friendly staff. Tasting room in Meadow Vista is still open as before.

Tucked away down a windy scenic drive off the highway, We found Bear River Winery looking for a break from traffic. Mike poured us a little bit of everything. Neither of us like Rose usually but we it was as delicious as the rest of them. We bought a bottle to go! Though it was hard to chose from several award winning wines. Definitely take the detour if you're looking for some good wine!

Great winery about 10-15 min from dt Auburn. It was great to have a chance to speak with someone involved in the total process and get details on each wine represented.

Amazing find!! Jeff, the owner, is a really sweet guy and fun to talk to. All the wines were amazing, I didn't find one I didn't like. Thank you Jeff for a fun tasting!
