Backyard Brew is a really fun and unique little spot. You kind of feel like you’re finding a secret coffee shop. You have to go through an alleyway to get to it.

Once you’re there, you’ll find a cute coffee shop that has some nice flavored lattes and some solid choices for food.

Definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

I took hot flat white first time and I didn't like it that much.

Later I tried Desert Rose latte, Orange Crush latte, and Banana Bread latte and omg I am a loyal client now, those are so so good. Lattes are not overly sweet just like they are in other places. The Owner cares so much about this place.
My only complaint is that I want to drink this awesome coffee from a real mug, not from a paper cup. I wish I can just bring my own mug. Can I (question for the Owner)?

I did spend couple of hours there and worked.
Everything was so peaceful and quiet.
They were very kind and welcoming.
About food and coffee, the food was very yummy 😋 about coffee, I got one of the special ones, baklava pistachio, it was ok. Next time I definitely order regular coffee. 🙂
Highly recommend this cozy coffee shop.

One of the coolest cafes I’ve been to! Feels like something out of a movie. You walk in a hidden alley and enter a beautiful area with plenty of seating, an area to order drinks and food, and even more seating in the back with outlets and WiFi. The Jordanian chai was a first for me and was really good! The service is rly nice and there’s a mix of people working and chatting. Also, rly close to the parking garage!

Discovering this place hiding off of California street was like stumbling through a brick wall into diagon alley. There are lots of odd bits and bobs around that give it an eccentric vibe. They had tons of fun drinks and I will be working my way down the menu. The cream biscuit was dry and tasteless but it won’t stop me from going back.

Beautiful & serene place to hangout with yourself. And sometimes friends!! Wide selection of drinks. Some very novel choices. Pistachio baklava Latte was okay. It wasnt as sweet as the name but would not get it if you really want to have that kick from a coffee. Go for espresso drinks then.

Backyard Brews is a hidden gem in the alleys right off of California Ave. The road has been secured for al dente dining, so the road to get here IS somewhat closed to the public — however, DO NOT FEAR! This coffee shop is bustling and is quite outdoors like no other. The serene sound of the fountains and the hustle and bustle of local businesses bring buzz and light to this hidden gem.

I love how it despite being outdoors, they still worked hard to make the best banana bread latte and croissant. Despite it being a little small, it didn’t really matter much because the coffee beans that they used were quite “arabica”…. with really strong coffee smell.

It gives a sense of community, and the coffee shop wasn’t too crowded at all. Kids were coming in and out with their families and it just makes sense to me that they did open an outdoor coffee shop like Backyard Brew did. Locally owned businesses for the win!

Chill spot to hang out by yourself or with a group. You can grab a bite or just a drink and it'll be a good time either way.

All that said, the pourovers are skippable. Very under extracted and the ratio felt super off as the drink was a dilute mess. As reddit always says: they need to grind finer.

Would still recommend stopping by, it's a unique spot to check out!
