Alameda Natural Grocery is the hippest place to shop for groceries in Alameda. In fact, some peeps come from the "mainland" to shop there.

As I entered the store from their parking lot, on the left was a bulletin board with information about music and children. On the right, there was a bakery display case. I couldn't resist getting a large crispy breadstick with seeds, jalapeno and cheese. I also got some  chocolate chip, molasses, and oatmeal cookies--they were so delicious I almost ate them all before getting back in my car.

They have a fresh fish and meat market where there is a butcher to make those special cuts of meat. Also, the animal products come from animals that are raised humanely. You can actually smell the fish before you buy (who wants to buy old stinky fish?) They have a wide variety of foods for vegans, and people on special diets, too. They steer away from chemically processed foods, including GMO. They have a beautiful selection of organic fruits and vegetables including the largest selection of fresh mushrooms I have seen in the East Bay.

They carry just about everything you would expect for a natural food store. Something that surprised me located above their large selection of chocolate bars was some really beautiful large woven baskets. You can see them in my photos.

The Alameda Natural Grocery is an amazing market, also famous for keeping beehives on the rooftop. The classic old Ford dealership building is home to this market and several other smaller shops complementary of the grocery store.

The people were friendly and very helpful. It was inspiring to see people as busy as their bees, stocking shelves as quickly as shoppers were gathering produce and more. 😉

We just moved to Lake Merritt neighborhood and we are so happy we found this place while visiting Alameda, my wife was in cloud nine with their selection of natural supplements, Alameda Natural Grocery store has quickly become our favorite.

Talk about great Vegan service & options 🛅 the prices are not even over the top! Absolutely love the neighborhood & seating options! Had no choice but to give 5 stars would give eight it's very classy! They got a translator for a woman behind me very quickly who spoke a different language and that was a great example of how to run a good business in my opinion. They have a great selection of sustainable everything from clothes to toileries. Very 👍

Love hanging out here. It's great for breakfast and lunch. Loads of people watching food and just an all-around pleasant vibe. The herbal and supplements department is top-notch, and there's so many wonderful nitch stores. Also has parking a big plus.

It's a good little grocery store. You can pop in here and get some things you need, especially if you're looking for natural foods, organic, vegan type of things. Also if you need some supplements they have a large selection of that. They do not have a large selection of products in general, but they have some different products that may be hard to find other places.
