For a small museum, this place was packed with treasures and history. They separated out little vignettes from old dental care, military history, The Greenway family, mining companies and much much more. We arrived just 20 minutes before they were closing but the 2 gents in the place were happy to answer questions and provide us with good information. Don't forget to stroll around outside. They survive by donations and the goodwill of their volunteers. If you're in Ajo, stop by on your way around the Scenic Loop Road.

Please go explore Ajo! Chances are you've passed through more than a handful of times like me and have never given Ajo a second thought. Today, I decided to take a little time and explore this historic mining town. The entry to the museum is free but of course upkeep is not so please give a little something to show your appreciation. Please go by say hello to Mike who was our tour guide, sign the guest book and take the time to look around this amazing and well kept museum!

Museum was closed when I arrived but I was able to walk around the grounds to take some photos. There’s old mining and town artifacts outside. I plan on returning to view the museum inside.

Volunteer run organization that is preserving the history of Ajo. While they have artifacts that would make a major museum jealous the real jems are the local stories

I'd would have given 5 stars if maps would have said closed for the summer! It showed to open at 10am. Drove 2 hours to see it.
