Customer Opinions

ACME Markets has received 661 reviews on Google My Business, with an average rating of 3.6 out of 5 stars. Some customers have noted that the staff may not always be friendly in-store, but overall, the store has received positive feedback.

One customer mentioned, 'I'm a former Acme hater; I always thought it was overpriced, but the trick is to ALWAYS use the app. There are so many coupons to clip in the app, and you will also randomly get $5-10 off your total order coupons in there. The gas rewards from the app/store card are pretty good too The times I've gone in-store, the staff isn't always super friendly, but I love using the free order ahead/drive-up option.'

Another satisfied customer said, 'Beyond Excellent 👍 Staff is overwhelming friendly & helpful. Results are evident, well managed; product extremely organized; maintained and fully stocked. Best kept secret'

Extremely rude employees, I called hoping to connect with a general manager and or Managment team in order to discuss a potential partnership yet the phone was answered by an angry women whom was pretty rude for no reason at all and refused to assist me and or connect me with the correct individuals!

I went to the deli and ordered 1 pound of prepared potato salad, I got 1.35 pounds! I confronted the clerk and told him to give the shoppers the amount they request. The prices are already high enough, not withstanding having to pay 2-3 dollars more, per shopping trip.

Bought my wife roses for Valentine’s Day. By the time I got them home and put in water, half the petals fell off. What a waste of money.

This review is only for the Pleasant Valley, NY location.

This is a decent grocery store though not a "supermarket" as in the nearby Stop & Shop. I primarily go here for the convenience, smaller crowds and generally good prices. Overall, I'd give this a solid B+ grade.

There are a few problems though... Sometimes their produce is not the freshest and they don't carry everything I'm looking for. However whenever I've had a problem with produce or anything I have purchased, they gladly exchange it or have refunded my money no questions asked.

Overall their prices are generally the best of the 3 grocery stores along the Route 44 stretch in the Arlington/Pleasant Valley area, but with a more limited selection than Stop & Shop. Adams, has the highest prices, but also offers things one cannot find at Acme or Stop & Shop.

That said, the Acme in Hopewell Junction is a far nicer store than the local Stop & Shop.

I held off leaving a review but the more I think of this interaction, the angrier I become, so here it is. My mom and brother came into Acme a few weeks ago and my brother went to purchase beer for himself. When he realized he did not have his ID, he gave the beer to my mom to pay. The young girl who was working as a cashier rang my mom up for the beer, no problem. Well, not long after did a "manager" approach my family and begin YELLING at them claiming they were trying to "trick" the cashier into allowing my brother to get his alcohol. Now. Let me say this; I am in the wine/liquor industry and have been for the last 11 years. I know the laws inside and out. Was it wrong of my mom to purchase the alcohol for my brother knowing he did not have his ID on him? Perhaps. But, my mom, like so many average people, do NOT realize this law. That being said, it is the STORE'S JOB to ensure their cashiers are taught this and realize the severity of it. It is NOT the customer's fault, in this case, my mother's. It is not their fault the staff wasn't properly trained. Well, this "manager" thought the best course of action was to yell belligerently and embarrass my family AND their poor employee in front of other customers. (I really wish I got this manager's name but something tells me this isn't her first offense and she is most likely not a staff favorite). There is a right and wrong way to address the situation and yet this manager chose to act aggressively and incorrectly and blame the customer when it is in fact her staff’s responsibility to know the ID policy. Disgusting behavior and I hope she is reprimanded. Acme, please train your managers and staff better to ensure they know the liquor/ID laws and how to appropriately treat customers if a situation such as this should arise. Until then, we won't be coming back.
