Over the weekend, we decided to take a fun road trip up north to visit Apple Hill. It had been a while since we did this, and we were excited! We had a list of our favorite places we usually stop by, but this time, we decided to try something new - Abel's Apple Acres.

We arrived at around 3:30 PM, and even though most of the weekend traffic was leaving Apple Hill, many folks were still enjoying Abel's Apple Acres. We strolled around, explored the little kiosks and shops, and eventually found ourselves in the food court.

The food turned out to be pretty good. We shared a yummy BBQ plate, a bowl of beans, some regular fries, and a couple of delicious corn cobs. Surprisingly, no one in our group had any complaints about the taste or quality of the food - which is quite unusual for us! Plus, the prices were reasonable.

The weather was fantastic, and we were eager to hit up our other favorite spots before they closed for the day, so we hopped back in the car. But one thing's for sure: we'll definitely be coming back to Abel's Apple Acres in the future!

This place was packed with people busily checking out the stuff here and it seems like the pies were flying off the shelves. There was plenty of cool Christmas swag here and a fun gift shop destination. Parking needed a lot of patience, but if you go across the street there is plenty of it.

Updated: A classic Apple Hill stop!
2024 I moved my face painting booth here and spent the season from Labor Day to Dec every fair weather Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Previous years: I filled in as the face painter for 3 weekends here in Oct. 2023. Before that I was at ElDorado Orchards since 2020 and spent 7 years at Boa Vista ... and Abel's also has a maze, rock hounding, horses and Highland cows to look at, pet, lots of vendors and lots of pies, donuts and favorite apple products. One child mentioned a petting zoo but it was unclear if that was at Abels or a nearby farm. Apple Hill is an area of many farms that people drive around and stop at several in a day. I used to bring my kids here to Abel's when they were young. It was a favorite spot for them. Now they also have individual yurts to sit and eat in in case of bad weather. It rained a little last weekend so less people than expected so no lines.

The caramel marshmallows are good, but the fudge leaves something to be desired. Peanut butter is last in the ingredient list for Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge (there was hardly any chocolate fudge on the top), and all it tastes of is Palm Kernel Oil and disappointment.

Wow! Our first experience at Apple Hill. Had looked ahead to make sure to stop at the best spots and do all the favorites. First stop was Abel's Apple Acres #38! Best apple donuts and apple butter! Grabbed a few dozens, some apple fritters, apple crisp with ice cream, apple strodle, caremel, and a few souvenirs (wood pumpkin ornament & red apple dude plush ๐ŸŽ)!
We hung out and pet the horses too.
Great fun filled day with all the apples ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’š

I have been going there for 20+ years, love this place. I know take my grown family and granddaughter. Love the food and all the candied apples; apple pie apple is my favorite. Love taking pictures with all the cut outs, running around the maze and horse rides. We always have a great time at Abelโ€™s.

Placerville, CA. Our favorite stop in Apple Hill for its bustling cheerful shop, great food, horses, maze, local vendors, unique candied apples (Butterbeer Candied Apples were a hit today), fudge, all kinds of apple baked goods, apple butter, toys and souvenirs. And freshly picked apples.

Today we got lunch there and when we smelled the chili dog as we passed someone eating one we had to have one. And it was great!!! We also smelled the apple pie baking and got a slice. I got the chicken salad with apples in it on top of spring mix, shredded carrots, walnuts, dried cranberries, cherry tomatoes, mandarin oranges, green olives and snap peas. Everything was extra delicious in the cool autumn air.

Speaking of fragrances that make your mouth water, when they take the pies out of the oven oh my Lord you can smell the butter, cinnamon, fresh apples and the loooove!

Just a great place that puts every visitor we saw in a good mood.
