Cask Strength is my go to stop when in Bakersfield for work. Great selection of bourbons, classic cocktails and excellent food! A must stop for visitors to the south valley

I had the old fashioned and an order of bourbon Tritip tacos. Everything, including the service, was incredible. They play current country music which gives a good Bakersfield vibe. Great spot downtown to drink and eat. They have locked cages you can rent to put spirits in for future use.

I got a chance to eat at Cask Strength Bar and Kitchen before the grand opening and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! My boyfriend and I got the truffle fries and the stuffed mushroom as appetizers. The fries were excellently seasoned and the mushroom was so delicious I would order it alone if I just wanted a light meal. My boyfriend got the Cajun noodles and I got the lamb. I am not a huge lamb person, but it was so tasty and delicious. The meat was soft and also seasoned exceptionally.

The atmosphere was great and the exposed beam is beautiful. The serving staff was great and extremely friendly. I would definitely go there again for date night or meet up with friends there after work.

Such a good restaurant! The atmosphere is clam and peaceful. The drinks are very tasteful and strong in a good way! Food was delicious and fulfilling. Staff was amazing and makes you feel welcome. Well definitely be back and recommend.

Quick Summary
Drinks were good but inconsistent. Food was above average. But their major need for improvement is the way (I get being short-staffed during the pandemic, but they could get another body from their Zama staff next door).

Food- 4 stars
We ordered the lamb chops, maple burger and cobb salad. The lamb chops were juicy and had good flavor. Maple burger was pretty good and the fries were double-fried, so that's always a treat. My girlfriend wasn't a big fan of the cobb salad, so would avoid healthy options here

Drinks- 4 stars
I enjoyed my Cask whiskey sour and old fashioned, but one of my friends at the table received a whiskey sour that was missing the lime juice. That was the only flaw regarding drinks

Service- 3 stars
The servers were really nice but they were understaffed. It took about 45 minutes to get our food and drinks were delayed.

Bottom Line
Food was pretty good but avoid the healthy options. If you're willing to wait about 30-45 minutes to get food here, the food and drinks are somewhat worth the wait.

Great atmosphere and awesome food. Service was superb. I’m not a whiskey girl so sipped on a Moscow mule. Tried three different appetizers and they did not disappoint. I had the steak tacos, which was interesting it had BBQ and mushrooms and onions. Also had the empanadas which I loved the salsa it came with. And lastly the mac n cheese, probably too cheesy for my own good.

Probably the best whiskey bar in Bakersfield. The widest variety of whiskey available at a decent price. Their flights are magnificent. Highly recommended.

My husband and I came with a party of six on a Friday night at 6pm. We were sat quickly and our orders were taken super fast as well. I had the steak sammies and a whiskey sour. They were incredible. My husband had the bbq burger and the buffalo mule and he loved them as well. Anytime any of the staff walked by they checked in and made sure we had everything that was needed. I loved it. Highly recommend
