- 3/27/2023, Monday: Beyond grocery store organic, with no sprays of any kind on this farm from Bordentown, NJ and selling at the Union Square Greenmarket on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday ~ 8am-3pm (winter), until 4pm as of April. Very, very fresh, and high quality selection of black beans, and herbs such as fresh Dill and Basil, and leafy greens from Kale to Spinach to more interesting Mustard Greens, overwintered broccoli rabe, arugula and bicolor amaranth greens, among many others. A favorite among the top restaurant groups and chefs, and among the smart home cooks and greenmarket goers. Sales include their own grains, fresh eggs, and sauces, dried herbs, and when in season fresh local ginger. Among the most informative and well-thought out signs showing nutrition and recommended cooking approaches for each type of fresh produce. Selections of greens through out the middle of the winter with more in the spring and summer. Pictured below are the shelled black beans grown on the farm, and sunchokes pictured from February 2023. Now approaching April 2023, there is a growing assortment of fresh greens. You can use your own bag or container and leave the rubber bands and plastic bags and paper pints by the cashier for re-use. I bring stainless steel containers inside tote bags for convenience and zero waste.

There are already more greens now, and plenty of fresh basil is coming in, and many of the large bunches of the greens are $4/bunch and without any sprays (better than certified organic sprayed in grocery stores from larger, less local, less fresh farms).
Today I picked up a $4 bunch of the overwintered broccoli rabe, and a large $4 fresh bunch of the ruby streaks mustard greens, and they took off and kept the rubber bands for me at the register, and I took them both in my stainless steel container in tote bag. A great value and deal for very fresh healthy dark leafy green vegetables, and it is nice to purchase outside under a tent in the warmer, sunny, spring weather from a local NJ farm.

Lanis Farms at Union Square Farmer's Market has great produce and great fresh juices. What they don't have is personnel that have any manners, especially the Manager who barks at the customers. I have twice had the displeasure of dealing with him while trying to patronize. Today he refused to sell to me because I told him he was being rude. There are plenty of other places at the Farmers market to patronize where you won't be treated disrespectfully so I suggest you try those instead.
