In the past Champlain Peonies provided good stock. That seems to have changed drastically. It is March 2025. I have three pending orders from June, July and August 2024 that were to ship in the fall of 2024 but never shipped. I have called and left messages and emailed and commented on Facebook numerous times since December 2024.

The company does not respond to phone calls or emails. They do not answer the phone. Their web site has said they are 'still shipping' Fall orders, but before that said they were finishing up Summer orders. Yet they continue to advertise and accept new orders.

If you look at their Facebook you will see numerous people like me asking them about their orders and absolutely no response to the requests.

Yesterday I filed a credit card dispute against them for the three charges from last summer.

Do not give this company your money. It's disappointing because they have been so good to work with in the past.

EDIT TO ADD: My credit card dispute was denied by my bank because it's been too long since the purchase! Grr. Noting this so others are aware and can file disputes without delay.

This is a horrible company for 3 reasons
1. Root peony is much smaller than any other nurseries and appeared dead- it was.
2. Took 5 months to receive delivery
3. They do not reply to phone or email in a timely fashion. I year after order failed , they finally said it was a poor quality shipment. Would replace. Now over 4 months later “crickets” in replies or shipment. Yet says on order delivered dec24
I tried to give zero stars but cannot post otherwise.
Advise- buy elsewhere

Plants that arrived were in good shape, but unfortunately not all of the plants I ordered arrived. Their customer service seems to be outsourced to people that will take your call and make a note for others to call you back, but they never call you back. They also don’t respond to emails. In short, customer service is terrible. Since I’m here, I’ll also mention their plants are overpriced. I found several of their more expensive varieties from other vendors for 66% less. Would not recommend, their are a ton of great peony vendors out there, this is just one of the first I tried in my peony journey.

I have ordered thousands of dollars of roots, tubers, seeds, & plants online & I have never had such terrible customer service and communication from a company. I placed an order for three peonies in May. There was nothing posted on the website that led me to believe that I would not receive my order quickly. When I didn’t receive it by summer, I assumed I missed something and that I would receive my peonies in time to plant by autumn. I did not receive any order at that time so I emailed the company. I received an email back stating that I would receive my tracking info in one to two weeks. I waited and frequently checked the website which by this time had a banner across the top indicating that shipping by zone was occurring and to be patient. I did not receive my order in November or December. I emailed again on December 30th and have had no further communication.

Placed our wedding Anniversary order in September. Was shocked to find out order would not be ready for shipping till first frost which was estimated first week November. It’s going into third week of December soon and no communication has been given in this matter. Spent over $200 and yet still no feedback. I do not recommend this company in the least. Absolute atrocious customer service. This company promises way too much and lacks delivery on demand. I had to submit a Better Business Bureau complaint due to the lack of email correspondence after countless attempts for communication. This company is not even a member of the BBB. I will be seeking legal actions after one more month of refund to be withheld. CONSUMERS TREAD CAUTIOUSLY!!! You have been forewarned.

Blown away by the quality of the bare root itoh peony I recently received from this company. Considering the price I feel like I hit the jack pot! Well packaged and received right on time. There are about 10 eyes on this root, simply amazing. Very pleased with my purchase. Will be telling all my flower loving friends and buying from them again.

I ordered my tree peony in June 2024. I understand that it was going to take till September 2024 for me to receive it. When I received my peony, there were no instructions on how to plant it. It took a week and 3 phone calls to Champlain to talk with someone. When someone finally called They said that they don’t have any planting instructions available but they’re typing them and will post onto website. Who sells a product without instructions anyway? He said just plant the graft part 4 to 6 inches below the ground. I’d not sure if I did it right; that’s why written instructions are vital. My peony had darn well better grow! You’d think that for them holding onto my money for 3 months, I’d get better treatment.
