You need to check this out if you ever in Englewood, Chicago. The Sweetwater Foundation. They truly have an awesome outlook on community. A great message to follow. Bringing together the community, socializing, building and growing also nurturing the young in one simple package. There more to that they seem to have all the simply answers to so many Englewood’s problems. I met an outstanding and intuitive gentleman Emmanuel Pratt. Great talking with him and leaning a bit about what they do. You should all take note and lead by example. This program needs help and idea what could be done to get them more support? Please visit their website and donate. They are doing amazing things for amazing people. I just wish the city could step up and somehow help the cause. #motivation #inspiration #lawofattraction #meditation #affirmations #positivity #positivevibes #selflove #positivethinking #mindfulness #gratitude #success #healing #sweetwaterfoundation #stevieray6569

We were contracted to complete the Civic Arts Church’s Roof. What an absolute joy to work for this organization. We look forward to adding value to them with other projects, in the future.

I was driving through the neighborhood, beautiful day, windows down. And I hear music. A trumpet playing jazz. I’m like I need this right now. So I make a couple of turns and stumble upon this really cool space. I pull up, get out. And walk across the street. I say hi to the musician and ask him if I can record a little of his music. He says “absolutely.” I’m literally in heaven. Next thing I know a lady comes up, and asks me what I’m doing. I said “just enjoying the music.”
She then says “well I’m with the foundation, what are you doing here.” I said “I’m just enjoying the music, what’s wrong?” She leaves I think everything is cool, then a guy comes up and says this is his place I need to come talk to him.
I said “I have no idea what’s going on man but I’m on a street listening to music. Leave me alone.” He says well you gotta stop taking pictures and leave.” From that point on he and I were regrettably aggressive to each other. I mean at that point now I am being a jerk. I’m only writing this because I hope the folks who run this see it. And realize, I absolutely loved their space. I’m not sure why I wasn’t welcome. I am a big, ugly, bald, white guy. Maybe one of those things bugged them. Maybe they were worried I was going to steal a tomato. But I was just a guy at the end of a long and stressful week who stumbled across this really beautiful, peaceful, little oasis in the middle of a really rough part of town. I wish the stop had gone better. It would have been just what I needed.

My family has been partnered with The Sweetwater Commonwealth for some time now. Come on down, get involved, learn a thing or two from some of the most brilliant minds in nature conservation and agriculture in the area. Wrap your hands and minds around amazing ways to heal yourself, your community and Mother Earth. Wellness Wednesdays and Friday Farmers Market are a good start. A farm and an educational center right in the heart of the city, right on the south side.

I got some chard with leaves the size of platters. I'll take a pic next time. The volunteers are helpful and care about this urban farm. Go on Fri to get what they've picked fresh. Starts at noon.
