We had an early lunch. Excellent food and service. I had the crab legs(excellent)and fries, wished I had ordered the salmon chowder instead of the fries. Go for the double order of slaw- it’s amazing!
Loved the music as well. A great change from the Cruise music….
BTW, they smoke their hamburgers. We unfortunately ate so early, they weren’t ready yet…..

My husband and I were "stranded" in Skagway because the ferry could not dock due to horrific water conditions. We managed to book the last available room in Skagway at the Historic Skagway Inn--the "Alice" for May 9, 2024. Karl and Rosemary Klupar were gracious hosts. The room was very comfortable, especially the bed and wonderful shower. The price included breakfast at Olivia's Bistro, which was fabulous. Karl held our luggage while we rode the White Pass Yukon Train on the morning of May 10. Do not miss that adventure! Karl provided transportation to the ferry when we were finally able to leave on May 10. We cannot say enough good things about our experience at this inn with the entire staff. Check skagwayinn.com/rooms for room photos, amenities and layout of the second floor showing private bathrooms, etc. Be sure to read the fascinating history of the inn, including the women for whom the rooms are named. Again, we are grateful to Karl and Rosemary for their many acts of kindness. They made us feel right at home. We discovered that their son and our sons were Purdue graduates. BOILER UP!

We didn't stay in a room but rather we walked from our cruise ship for an absolutely amazing lunch!
10 out of 10 we would stop in for a meal in a blink of an eye.

We are even looking into visiting the area for a few days and possibly staying at this Inn.

Keep up the great work!

My husband and I decided to take a trip to Skagway to be there and see it for the first time in our lives after 25+ years of living in Alaska. We decided to stay at this historic Skagway Inn because we thought we wanted to stay in the most historic areas and facilities that we could come up with. We arrived and we checked in very early in the morning and then we went and did multiple things throughout the day ending up back there at roughly 5 o’clock at night in time to enjoy our first meal at the Skagway Inn-Olivia‘s. The meal itself was delicious We both loved our separate meals and were pleasantly surprised at how it rivaled everything in Anchorage. The salmon spread was delicious. We each had a salad and both salads were delicious. The meal was wonderful. Then we went upstairs to our room and got to look around there and it was everything you wanted to be. Historic on the walls, historic on the model, historic in everything in there. We just loved it. Breakfast was a set meal for all of us staying there. Partly made from their garden, it was light and refreshing. Are we coming back – yes. We loved it so much. We are actually going to reschedule and bring some of our family with us this time. It was just too wonderful to miss. And if we had a bucket list, this would be a huge checkmark on our bucket list.

I got lunch here on our cruise stop. I got the smoked salmon chowder and the elk meatballs. Both tasted wonderful and the staff were friendly and quick. They grow a lot of their food in a garden out back.

This hotel locates in heart of Skagway. Everything you need just right here. Stayed in shared bathroom room. No complains, the facility was perfectly clean. Breakfast isn't repetitive. Every day you will get something new. Also, they have a bar and restaurant on a main floor.

We had dinner here, and it was a disappointment! Our innkeepers did not recommend this restaurant and may be they knew what to be expected. With the exception of my half pound king crab that was good, the other dishes lacked taste and seasoning: the salmon chowder had very little salmon and needed much salt and pepper. The meatballs were dry and overcooked. Service was very nonchalant even though they were very few customers. I do not understand all the positive reviews. There must be new cooks. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

My family and I visited this bistro one week ago on a cruise, and I'm still confused and mortified by the treatment we got.

All was well while we were eating. My mom and aunt thought their salads were sub-par but I liked the chowder a lot. Then the server comes around to collect our bills. My mom isn't very tech savvy and bungled the tip, but I thought it wouldn't be a big deal since we were all going to tip more and I would add some on top.

The server looked at her tip and said "wow... okay, wow. That's... I need you to tip at least 15%..." which is fair, sure.

My uncle responded "well Jesus only tipped 10%" which is also fair, as it's not mandatory to tip, just rude if you don't at all.

The server called us rude, stingy, fighting back and forth saying "you don't know how hard I work, the season is ending and I have to protect myself. You know what? I'm adding on 15% anyways for gratuity, because uh... it's a table of 5 or more." Completely lying, we're sure.

Everyone was confused about why she was so mad, and kept running her mouth about how terrible we were, talking back to my family, being just generally mean, over what?

My uncle said "Well, we'll never be back here again." and she replied "Well of course not, you're on a cruse, duh." Completely uncaring of us or how rude she was being.

At that point she came to collect my bill. $28 for a bowl of soup with her mandatory tip. I added another 8% on top to get her attention and told her "please, I worked at Sonic in the Texas heat for $4.25/hr, I get that you work hard, please, just stop making it worse."

And she threw up her hands and started in on me. At that point, I was flushed red with anxiety and wanted to cry at how she was talking to us. I get working hard for your money, and waves of tourists coming in each day, but talk smack about them in the kitchen, not to their faces.

And yes, I plan on going back to visit Skagway, and I'll be sure and let everyone know to tip really really REALLY well if they don't want to get talked down to by a server.

- terrible service
- not great salads
- chowder was pretty good and gluten free
- tip well or the staff will attack you
- the staff especially don't care about you if you're on a cruise
