Our group stayed at 73 Anthracite Stellar property. Iron Horse was very easy to work with and they were very efficient. I much prefer this than to dealing with Airbnb or VRBO.

The property is in an excellent location with breathtaking views from every window. The online pictures accurately depict the entire home, which has been maintained exceptionally well. The driveway easily accommodated two SUVs, and we were fortunate to have a local tractor plow it one day. The house was stocked with everything we needed: a variety of bath towels, ample dish ware/cutlery/cookware, multiple humidifiers, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, kitchen sponges, and dish towels.

While the house lacked a full set of wine glasses for eight, we addressed this with the property management company via email. They quickly delivered 8+ wine glasses the following morning. We noticed a shortage of hooks and hangers for clothes and ski gear in the house. While we managed, having additional hooks in various areas, including rooms and the ski area, would be beneficial.

The thoughtful floor plan made it easy for our group of 8 adults to interact while also providing individual space and privacy. Ski-in access to Homeowners Run was conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from the house. Some group members used FirstTracks for easy and convenient transportation to and from the base, directly picking up and dropping off at the driveway.

Our only disappointment revolved around the pre-existing broken dishwasher. Despite advance notice of the broken appliance prior to our arrival, no one arrived during the scheduled repair timeframe. Upon calling, the management team appeared unaware of the status and annoyed that we were calling to check in. Maintenance took place the following day (second to last evening of our stay) however, the dishwasher wasn't adequately fixed; running it that evening left the dishes still dirty.

While other team responses were quick and amicable, this marked our only unfavorable interaction, and there was a disparity in understanding our frustration with washing dishes for 8 adults, 2-3 times a day, over the course of 6 days.

YOU SAVED OUR VACATION!!

It's rare that I go out of my way to write a review but this kind of genuinely extraordinary service must be shared. The folks at Iron Horse saved our vacation! After a terrible bait and switch on an Air B&B property, we called Iron Horse and they found a genuinely beautiful property with every amenity with no notice in one hour! The owners personally showed us the property and even brought us a welcome basket. If you are going to Crested Butte I would never dream of looking for another property management firm or even consider looking at any of the property aggregator sites.

Only property management company we will use in CB. Steve and his staff are the absolute best. Always accommodating. We have never been disappointed. And there are some less than desirable property managers in CB. We will always use Iron Horse.

I would call them rather than attempting to use their web site. Let's start with the positive. They have some gorgeous properties which are fairly priced. I sent in an email today (a Sunday afternoon) to ask a question about a listing and quickly received an answer that was directly on point. In the dispute which I will talk about in the next paragraph, I quickly received follow up emails. Based on my interaction today and speaking with a family member who lives in town, they are real people who work hard to get you the information you require. Great.

The website, however, can't be trusted. I wanted to book a property for late next Summer. It makes complete sense to me that some homeowner's wouldn't have decided yet what to do with their properties. I would assume, in that case, that they simply wouldn't list them as available on a specific date at a specific price. I found a property I wanted to rent, I thought the price was acceptable, and I booked it. I got a confirmation screen which showed it was accepted. Not pending or provisional or anything else, but fully accepted. I then got a follow up email saying that the booking was actually declined because it wasn't yet available for rent at that point.

The moral of this story is that I would talk to them rather than relying on the web site. If I have do a search for time period X, and it returns property Y as available at price Z, and then you show me a screen saying it was approved, I should have a house to stay in. I don't. We certainly got that cleared up quickly enough, and they respond to messages quickly. Just don't book online.

I came across this company while researching vacation rentals in Crested Butte, however I came to realize that the owners pictured are the same couple I witnessed on a recent United flight from Denver to Gunnison verbally berating an airline employee after being told to wear a proper face mask. I certainly hope that behavior isn’t indicative of how they deal with clients.
