A friend recommended we come here for our first crack at cross country skiing, but we found far more to like than just the skiing (which was fabulous!). The grounds were stunning and really made the trip worth it. There were tons of trails, all well groomed. Our instructor, Tripp, was excellent. He knew just how to walk us total beginners through the steps and was always helpful and encouraging. He also was our guide on the Suncat tour. He knew about every aspect of the facility. The staff in general was helpful and friendly, and they often worked as a team to make sure we were taken care of. We enjoyed the sleigh ride, the spa, and the jacuzzi (great mountain views). We also liked just reading on the second level of Heck's Tavern with its huge picture windows. The food at both restaurants was very good. We will definitely be back.

Do not plan a stay at this resort! This is an award wining resort no more! While the ranch itself is beautiful, the experience is terrible! The staff is overworked, underpaid, unappreciated and worn down! This is the words of the staff members themself! Management overlooks issues like broken elevators requiring guests to carry their own luggage up and down flights of stairs. Steam rooms, workout machines and other equipment on site and in rooms are inoperable. Restaurants require a reservation and then you wait 30 + minutes or more for an appetizer, food comes out cold and service is really hit or miss depending on the staff member you get. We were told by staff that they are planning to close the resort in April for a couple of weeks to do a deep clean and fix things but in the meantime it’s just make do which is completely unfair to guests who paid good money expecting a top resort experience and staff trying to make a living. This place is a disaster right now. Don’t waist your time or money! When we addressed staff members, several times, nothing was addressed and management just made excuses. Were a small town it’s hard to find workers. The employees weren’t the issue! It is a lack of ownership of problems and making them take the brunt of poor decisions and leadership that is the problem. They said, we have no towels, bath mats, robes, help to take care of the animals on site, the maintenance that needs to be done, it’s out of their hands. You are seriously better off staying at a Hilton! They think comping a meal or spa day fixes the issue. When you plan your vacation and are looking forward to time with a loved one, and your time away from work and kids is rare, comping a guest after 3 complaints, and numerous issues is not going to fix things. Run this place like the high end resort it is meant to be and that your guests are paying for from the get go! So incredibly disappointed! We actually checked out early and had to request out final day be refunded after getting home when they told us before we left it would be taken care of.

What an absolutely wonderful place and stay. Happy, welcoming, smiling team from servers to front desk. It was so beautiful and the spa was amazing. We loved the activities they offered from ft tire bicycling to nordic skiing; especially loved the horseback riding and sleigh ride! The rooms were very comfortable and next level with heated floors. Definitely recommend staying here! What a fantastic place! Thank you DTR!

This was my first visit to the Devils Thumb Ranch and I can't wait to go back ! We stayed in the main lodge and our room was very comfortable and so convenient to everything. The activities were easy to book and the people were super nice and helpful. We took a classic lesson and a skate lesson from Marie who was an amazing instructor . We did not have a car so ate all our meals on site. Towards the end we were laughing about going back to Hecht's to eat... but honestly the food was really good. If you had a car you could drive a short distance to the cute town of Fraizier where there are different restaurants . Honestly though we didn't mind just staying put. We were there Sunday - Thursday and had a couple of bluebird days to explore the miles of Nordic ski trails. So peaceful and beautiful . Yes, cell service might be spotty but I don't think that is a bad thing. Nice to unplug and truly enjoy nature and the quiet. We did go to the spa one afternoon and had great massages. We also took advantage of a complimentary YOGA class one morning. The hot tub was also nice at the end of the day to ease some sore muscles. So many other activities to do on our next visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away , relax and enjoy some time outdoors. A great place for couples, family , friends or even solo ! We used Home James for our shuttle serve and they were right on time and easy to work with.

We had a great stay at Devil's Ranch - its warm, friendly, and just the right amount of rustic charm but still felt clean and upscale. There is a ton to do and is very well thought out. We tried x-country skiing for the first time (rented gear on site that was very nice for $25) on the peaceful grounds followed by a massage where the facilities were impeccable and again the right combination of rustic and modern. We enjoyed the onsite restaurant's live music and fire and enjoyed our room too as it felt like we were at an old farm house rather than a hotel. It was an easy and fun getaway from Denver and we found it to be worth the money and will definitely be coming back. Oh and the view from the hot tub is awesome, especially after a ski day!

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. From the online booking to the welcoming guest services, everything was seamless. The resort felt so cozy as if we had the place to ourselves yet always felt we could go to the desk for questions and they always had an answer. It's one of those places you read about in story books yet this is real. The staff, the offerings, the food were all so authentic it makes it feel like a home away from home. The pool is amazing and also straight out of a story book. The game room provided for authentic family time. The chef in Heck's came out and chatted with us giving us insight into the menu and basically became friends. I can't say enough great things about this place other than I want to come back every month to experience all the seasons, not just winter. Thank you, thank you!
