Rarely do I post a negative review. It's hard being a business owner. For this situation I make an exception. We have shopped her for over fifteen years. At first a
as a frequent visitor and now as a part time resident of Vail Valley. Last week we stopped in and I bought a pair of hiking boots and my wife picked up a few things. Without looking closely at them except for size we walked out. Once home the $80.00 sweater had a spot on it. (Inexpensive item but it was cute). When we tried to return it exchange the young salesman with a beard said my wife had worn it even though it had the tag still on it. He clearly stated she was a liar and nothing could be done. We emailed the owners Mike and Mary who know my wife by sight when they see her. No response so far. You decide if you want to shop at a store where the young employees are so poorly trained that they insult their customers. After many years and thousands of dollars, we will shop at home or on line for the things that we use to go out of our way to support local business. We will never set foot in this store again. Good bye Ptarmigan, hello Amazon!

Mike and the team are awesome. Very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions I have or help with warranty items. A great store that you must visit. I’m a frequent shopper and most recently received excellent service from Mike and James in selecting new sandals but more importantly a pair of awesome lightweight hiking shoes. Wide selection of high quality products with top notch service! Don’t miss this place!

Horrible shopping experience, not kid friendly one of the sales associates said negative vocabulary words to my child . My child is autistic and she didn't apologize even. We did not want to spend our money there for sure there will be no next time.
