A must visit. True to the roots of the small brewery experience in the San Diego area. Visiting Lightning feels like visiting a bit of brewing history.

There is an indoor and outdoor seating area to enjoy. The beer on tap is great! Really unique brewery styles compared to most breweries. Nice to be able to order a few types of beer I have never seen elsewhere. Of course, they have the tried and true Thunderweizen, also a must have when you visit. It really is the definition of a Souther California take on a Hefeweizen style. Fits perfectly with the great weather.

There is plenty of parking around the building, a few places large enough to bring a sizable group of people after work for a birthday. They also have some snacks that you can grab while you are here.

The staff was attentive and professional, which is always appreciated. You can also get a glimpse into the production when you visit as well, since it's a big open warehouse.

Lightning Brewery has the finest beers in San Diego County. They have several unique, award winning beers not found anywhere else in San Diego. All are high quality and tasty. There is always a good variety. The Dubbel Negative, Octoberfest, Red Arc, Jim's Moror Oil, and Black Lightning Porter are my favorites.

Nice little tasting room close to where I work... the owners are scientists (like me) and have humorously nerdy beer names. The Electrostatic Ale and Jim's Motor Oil were my favorite. Great place!

After being on 3 BREWERIES, today, our CLAN, considered this BREWERY have some GOOD tasting ones.

We even, have some kind of elaborate chat behind the SCIENCE of BEERMAKING, with Jim. Also we learn a little bit of why it is named the way it is.

Coincidentally, we happen to gather around THOR's TABLE...

Visiting the tasting room was a great experience. There was a wide variety of excellent beers available and the tasting room has recently been upgraded and now includes an outdoors seating area. The tasting room has a very knowledgeable serving staff that can provide insight into the special characteristic of each beer. The head brewer/owner places special emphasis on only using high quality ingredients in each variety of beer or ale (originating from as far away as the UK, Germany, and New Zealand). This is a must visit experience for craft beer lovers.
