I've been buying wine from Big Hammer for about a year and have made eleven orders so far. In each instance I ordered six or twelve bottles and the shipping has always been free. There is a small fee for ice packs if you want those during warmer months. One order was returned by the carrier because one or more bottles broke in transit. Big Hammer immediately shipped a new case to me of the wine I had ordered. Most shipments arrive in about a week. I send the shipments to my local UPS store so I don't have to be concerned with being home to sign for the order. My UPS store charges me $5 per box for this service which is well worth it. So far ALL of the wines that I have ordered have been as promised and an excellent value. I will continue to be a Big Hammer customer for a long time to come. Once yo set up an account be on the lookout for their occasional specials which will save you even more!

I usually don't write reviews, but this time I felt compelled to do so. I believe customer service is the core of any business, and they certainly succeeded in this area. Of course, as with any company, there are always a few areas for improvement, but they seem to have a philosophy of constant improvement, and I think that's what makes the difference.

Amazing and excellent service. We are from the UK and my dad works away in Mexico and loves a very specific type of wine only available in Mexico and the US. Big Hammer Wines were able to ship this all the way from the West Coast of the US to the East Coast of the UK and was here within 2 DAYS! They ensured we knew that there would be an alcohol tariff in the UK before shipping and were lovely on the phone. Will return to purchase with them again definitely! Thank you again, 1 very happy British family here!

I can't possibly understand why anyone would leave negative feedback for this business! I ordered a somewhat high-end, expensive bottle of Bordeaux, and requested that they select a pristine condition bottle, with no scratches or scuffs on it, and everyone, including the owner, Greg, were all extremely helpful, courteous, attentive, honorable, communicative, and they even went out of their way(s) to take a few pics of the bottle in question, and email them to me, prior to shipping it out to me... Outstanding customer service, competitive pricing, huge selection of rare & fine wines at all price-points, and a very friendly staff. Will do business with again! Enthusiastically recommended, coming from a somewhat picky person (me). A+++++

I know CA cabs and was interested in their sales pitch. This 2016 wine sells for $40. They say it is VERY highly rated. I blind tested the wine with a few other more expensive bottles with friends. This came out on bottom. The finish was actually harsh. I let it breath for 1.5 hours. It lacks upfront fruit. I would give it about an 88/100. Life is too short to drink mediocre wine.

Disappointing. I described to the owner the kind of wines I most enjoy and he sent me a list of recommendations. Before I knew it, a case of 12 different wines had been charged and was on its way -- when all I had agreed to was to review and consider the owner's list of recommendations.
Still ... I kept the case. The wines were OK -- but only okay, and ALL were overpriced.
Months later, now that they're gone, it reminds me of oriental rug dealers who describe their incredible buys ... but then when you compare ... you realize it was all expensive hyperbole.
Follow-up: I like that Greg (business OWNER) criticizes me for not posting this review until I'd actually tasted ALL of the wines he sent!
